Re: How can we affect change within the county@

There is so much that can be done, and there does not have to be huge investment of additional time or money, just through people using their time and current resourses smarter and more efficiently. People need to invest in themselves also/do a little research/visit a successful club outside the cou...

Re: How can we affect change within the county@

Ok all excellent points but just two quick points on that 1. Isn't it the county coaching officer Alan Mulhalls job to get the underage coaches up to standard if you type in Offaly coaching and games development into a google search engine you should find an online booklet on the coaching and games ...

Re: How can we affect change within the county@

What are the major problems that we are coming up with solutions for? Is it lack of volunteers, poor coaching, poor coaching of coaches, lack of money, lack of support from the County Board, poor facilities, lack of interest from players or potential players? Ok so how do we fix these problems, any...

Re: How can we affect change within the county@

Good idea, but lets not run with solutions before we can walk, lets look at ourselves first. 1) How many people contribute here to the forum? -A) How many of you are members of your club? (Paid up members who have a vote) -B) When is the last time you attended an underage Adult or Underage AGM -C) ...

Re: How can we affect change within the county@

I'd say the best thing to do is to take the lead on it yourself. Add your suggestions, give a date for when you would like responses/similar suggestions, etc. Don't wait for others to implement it if you feel strontly enough about it. I, for one, will try to help where possible. Good luck with it C...

How can we affect change within the county@

I'm not sure too many would be interested in commenting on this as i get the feeling i've annoyed a few people with my comments over the past couple of months but what i'd like to do is start a forum on how we can affect positive change within the county instead of always giving out about whats wron...

Re: Offaly versus Kildare 16th June 2012

Cop on Townman, challenge games are never an indication. How can ya "write off" the season? Dont train, and get back together in the Autumn under some miracle manager? Coffey deserves a shot at the job, and Im sure they will improve. Fair enough we wont beat Kildare, but we could definite...

Re: Offaly versus Kildare 16th June 2012

We may never see the likes of it again. Long live the men of '95!
Not with that attitude we wont

That's the problem with this county, too busy talking about the past and not enough people looking to the future

Re: Offaly minor hurlers

firstly hard luck to the offaly lads and management and congrats to laois - as a carlow man its as hard to say for me as ye! the first thing i cant get my head around is the idea of birr or ocp as a venue. it shouldnt matter to the lads or to the supporters. its a poor argument or more like an excu...

Re: Poll: Who Shares The Majority of the Blame

Another intangle factor, but one worth mentioning is "we the public". We can't talk about the County Board or the Clubs in complete isolation as these are bodies that are representative bodies of ourselves. Is the GAA public and the GAA culture in the Offaly highly demanding of success an...

Re: Poll: Who Shares The Majority of the Blame

Excellent poll - a good way of framing the situation. Personally, I went with: (1) The county board's handling of managers in terms of appointment and working with them, though here I would largely focus on appointment. It seems to be too lengthy and cumbersome a process, with too much interference...

Re: Gerry Cooney steps down as Offaly Manager

Offaly had a reputation as a county that was a black hole for managers in the middle of the last decade, but I thought we served our penance by letting ineffective managers stay on and not booting them out the door. Before the question used to be - why do we get rid of so many good managers? Now, I...

Re: Relegated
Think BNM man captured it perfectly when he summed it up through the lazy atitude and preparation of players at club level, possibly driven by the drawn out nature of the championship in Offaly. What tends to happen is that the club starts off with a bang in Janu...

Hard Luck to Gallen

Just want to say hard luck to Gallen, just watching on tv it looked like it was just one of those days, gotta hand it to cookstown they have an awesome side especially in midfield and the half forward line, and the best team won on the day no doubt, but this team is not as bad as that scoreline sugg...
