Re: General Election time
Couldn't agree more. A high profile candidate would walk in here. Shame they didn't go ahead with it just to shake up the political system. I don't like some of their proposed candidates but they would definitely have shaken things up. I haven't a notion who to vote for. Fianna Fail need a kick in t...

Yeah, he led them to victory in the Kilkenny and Leinster Intermediate championships and then got the bullet.

Re: General Election time
It might work...or it might not. The freedom to appoint experts might by stretched a little. .... Minister for Heath would be a vastly experienced doctor with a knowledge how the HSE works : Brendan Drumm would fill those criteria and his HSE was a disaster in my opinion. On the larger point about ...

Re: General Election time
Never mind Cowen. There are hardcore fianna failers who'd vote for Ger Killally if he ran. It's easy to forget that at the height of the property boom he was chairperson of the offaly county council. And we wonder why the country is where it's at. Is Leahy definitely going for it. What does he stand...

Re: Weekend fixtures
While everybody would like finals played in O'Connor park, the pitch is poor enough condition. For hurling especially, could do with fewer matches played on it.
It is a hard one to balance.

Re: County senior hurling championship
Fair point by Lone Shark. I understand Birr have lost talented players, but on paper that Birr team still looks quite strong. What I was disappointed with was their level of ability. Birr have dropped back as opposed to others moving up to that level. Can understand how people thought it was good f...

Re: The all Ireland hurling final
:? should have read that more carefully. I think Kilkenny will win this if Tennyson and Shefflin start and remain on pitch for whole match. I think they will start. Having JJ Delaney out half back strengthens the team from last year a huge amount. I think Noel McGrath could be the key to this match....

Re: The all Ireland hurling final
For neutrals, it's a case of more of the same, as both counties have dominated hurling. Won't lose any sleep over either county. For 2011 let's hope a new team challenges Kilkenny. You can't really saw Tipp have dominated hurling, unless you are going back to before the 1970s They only won one in t...

Shefflin out
A few of the regulars here don't have much time for him but I think it is a terrible shame to hear Shefflin is out for the attempt at the 5 in a row.

Ah jaysus that's harsh!
Couldn't disagree with the original poster more. Umpires, esp at intercounty should be involved more

I'll be there. I fear a hiding for Offaly. Kk will beat Dubs by less than Galway will beat Offaly. Hopefully I'm wrong.
