Re: Birr vs Dunloy

Congrats to Birr . Wonder would the GAA consider bringing the club all ireland to Thurles ,now that Portumna have also qualified for the final. would make more sense instead of bringing both teams all the way to Croke Park.?

Re: Birr vs Dunloy

If Birr do get through to the All Ireland , I wonder what kind of condition Croke Park will be in and what kind of playing surface the hurlers will face after the recent Rugby matches in Croke Park. Ireland are due to play Wales on Saturday March 8th leaving only one week for the pitch to be ok for ...

Re: 1998 ALL IRELAND HURLING SEMI FINAL

Probably the best game that I was ever at in my life. In thurles the home of hurling. Clare up for it , Offaly coming in as underdogs but nicely posied to take them. Ill never forget the 5 points Joe Dooley scored, Stephen byrnes 3 fantasic saves in the dying minutes- unbelieveable. Coming out from ...

Its only around the corner. How can people give out about GAA grants. How will the grassroots like it when they are paying out every Sunday to watch their favourite team... Re: County Board Officers 2008

Ya that motion shoudnt be allowed pass. I think common sense should prevail though. On thing i would be worried about is the Internediate grade. If Birr are allowed to do next year what they did this year, it is completely unfair to other intermediate teams in Offaly. Since the county intermediate ...

Re: County Board Officers 2008

Ruled out of order as a motion for convention (as many of them usually are) and referred back for discussion at first county board meeting, at which point I think KK said they'd withdraw it, but I think they might have been missing the point that it couldn't be heard anyway. Why was it ruled out of...

Re: Setanta for TV Rights ?

It's no harm for a bit of competition to shake things up in the market. If nothing else, it'll give RTE's stale coverage a boot up the arse. Having said that, I shudder at the thoughts of who TV3 will dredge up to cover the games. I'm not surprised to see Setanta in the bidding but I doubt they'll ...

Setanta for TV Rights ?

In the last week , the GAA has announced that some of the TV packages have been given to TV3 . Most of the premium TV packages have still to be decided on ( i.e All Ireland Final , All Ireland Semi's, Provincial Finals ) and these will be decided on in the coming weeks Maybe its just me , but since ...

Re: Offaly Minor Management A Complete Joke

Good Ideas there OF. Just a few questions - Where would you have the Academies and how would you organise transport. Many of the academies are run at the moment but not too many parents want to give up their saturdays to drive their kids to the academies. If the county board is to pay for buses, thi...

Re: Birr vs. that KK crowd

As far as i know , at least the final is fixed for O connor Park. There should be good Offaly support at it.

Does anybody know if the final will be shown live on TG4?
