Re: Rhode V Tullamore

This was as good an exhibition by an Offaly club side as seen in many a year. Rhode were awesome at times and don’t let hindsight fool you – most of us couldn’t see this Tullamore defence conceding anything like 1-20. It has been their main strength for a long time. Even games they have lost have be...

Re: Who's the second best football team in Offaly?

There is no second best team in Offaly at present. Rhode Juniors - Intermediate for 2009 - are as good as many senior sides. The rest are so even it is impossible to choose one. Clara or Gracefield are, on paper at least, a little ahead but unfortunatley for them games are played on grass. Tullamore...

Re: intermediate football champ

The semi-finals draw in IFC is an open draw; same as senior and junior championships. Draw will be held after the SFC semi-final on Sun evening next.

Re: U21 v Carlow

Sorry baz. Under 21s beaten by Clare; 4-14 to 0-18. Conceded a few poor goals. Kilmartin certainly at fault for two and Flannery could hold his hand up for another one. Watkins played full-back in second half and was much improved from his first thirty at centre-back (Leonard at some 3-day wedding)....

As it appears in Offaly GAA Bible - Leabhran Eolais 2007: "2007 CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS # 1 CHURCH STREET, SENIOR FOOTBALL Group 1: Rhode, Erin Rovers, Gracefield, Shannonbridge. Group 2: Clara, Ferbane, St. Rynaghs, Tubber. Group 3: Shamrocks, Ballycumber, St. Brigids, Tullamore. Top team from two ...

On the weekend games that I attended (4 in all) a couple of things struck me. 1. I’d hate to be manager of the Offaly team with so few of the current players distinguishing themselves as that and very few others raising themselves above the general ineptitude on display: perhaps John O’Hara (Clara),...

Referee in the Ballycumber V Tullamore game was dreadful, and certainly appeared malicious. Could it be that the Edenderry Referee has now repaid Ballycumber for their objection to Finbar last year? Naw - that'd never be the case!?!

Couldn't agree more. Way to go. Might even get a seconder at county board meeting. It definitely has its merits and would certainly overcome the silly situation that currently sees Tullamore and yourselves getting ready to face each other for the third time, in the knowledge that defeat probably mea...

I'd back Edenderry - but they were terrible against Ferbane! Having said that perhaps Ferbane, for the second time (the first being the last 20 mins against Tullamore) in this year's championship, displayed their undoubted potential. It took two early goals to ignite the confidence that they have be...

Shamrocks and Clara didn't draw the short straw. They finished bottom of their groups  and the way to avoid it was to way a couple of games. The need to accomodate dual clubs is outweighed by the need to have a competitive Senior Hurling Championship - and that will be further progressed this y...
