Senior Football Q-Finals and Relegation
Following the weekend results am I right in saying that the following 6 teams are through.
1
Rhode
Ballycumber
2
Shamrocks
Erin Rovers
3
Clara
St. Brigids
The winners of Groups 1 and 2 go to semis (most likely Shamrocks and Rhode) but what has it been decided if the group 3 winners play the group 1 runner up or the group 2 runner up.
Rhode, Shamrocks and Clara look the form teams but any of the other 3 could make a semi final.
As for the relegation how does that work. I've heard two teams are to go down from the 3 groups.
As yet the following teams have no points.
Shannonbridge
St. Rynaghs
Doon
Gracefield
Edenderry
I'd fancy Doon and St. Rynagh's at this stage but it would be very interesting to see Edenderry and Gracefield dragged into it.
Edenderry lined out short 5 or 6 starters against Tullamore and seemed to show no hunger for the game.

Relegation Play-offs
The losers of the following games will compete in a 3 team round robin competition (the winner of which will avoid the drop to Intermediate):
Doon Vs Gracefield
St Rynaghs Vs Shannonbridge
Edenderry Vs Ferbane (A draw will suffice for Ferbane to survive)

Probably not, but seeing as I'm not home to see the games, it just implies that anything I do will be a guess. But then all oddsmaking is to a certain degree, so ......
If anyone wants a few bob on any of those, I'l certainly oblige within reasonable limits though. Sadly no bookmakers in Offaly will do anything like this, so this is the best you'll do unfortunately.

Gracefield v Erin Rovers
Well done to Erin Rovers Saturday night, they showed great determination and resilience. I was playin for Gracefield and to say that we are sick is an understatement.

I thought that the format for teams getting relegated would be the bottom team from the Doon & Shannonbridge group would be joined by the bottom 2 teams from the bigger group...
Then Doon would play Edenderry to see who went down while Shannonbridge would play play ferbane for example & the losers of those 2 matches were relegated.
Like I don't see how a 3 way playoff can work when you have 2 teams been relegated!!!
maybe I'm completely wrong but thats the way I thought it would be!!!

its a sorry situation to see Gracefield having to fight relegation after the last 3 - 4 seasons...
i think they were lucky it was doon they were facing in the last game, and stronger opposition would have beaten them
unfortunately i can see them fighting it again next season due to their stubbornness in holding onto too-old players and not allowing the younger ones enough senior county experience....
