Re: SHC-Another ludicrous situation
I would go with option 2 as suggested by you. The problem with this years system was in trying to follow the Kilkenny one is that in Kilkenny there would not be a team as far adrift of everyone else as is the case with ballyskenach this year. In my opinion the whole structure of the hurling champion...

Re: SHC group stages continues . . .
Birr were looking for permission last night at the county board to develop St. Brendans park as the secondary county ground in Offaly. Something that should be supported, however there is no point in installing terracing etc if they dont get the pitch sorted

Re: Hurling Relegation play off
nothing will be added to the all ireland hurling championship by relegating any one of these 4 teams and certainly nothing will added to it by the promotion of any one of the second tier teams in fariness to Carlow they won the Christy Ring and they should be much more entitled to play in the Leins...

Re: Offaly vs Wexford - Leinster Championship 30/05/2009
If our defence can play like they did in thurles we will be hard to beat, but if we are without kenny then it will be a tall order.
Our record in wexford park is very poor in the league so we will need a full strength team if we are going to come through

Re: SHC weekend May7-May9
The system put in place is similar to kilkenny. It is designed to give more games to players in a championship format. It is a better system than last year as for example when shamrocks lost their first round they knew they were as good as out. This years system keeps everyone going through the summ...

Re: Championship games on week nights
Absolutely horrible. I hate weekday championship matches. You have to work during the day, spend anything up to 2 hours travelling. You stuff a dinner into you before you leave and the amptmosphere at the game is dead. This all leads into what will probably be a flat, poor game and then the support...

Re: Leinster or Munster
Isn't sport strange. A few years ago it was Leinster who were on form coming into the semi, but lost, and we have the exact same scenario yesterday but with munster, and this time they get stuffed.
Hopefully yesterday wasn't Leinsters final

Re: Offaly v Wexford - NHL Division 2 Final (03/05/2009)
I said it at the start of the year that promotiion from Div 2 was the most important thing for us this year and thankfully it has been delivered. However now that goal has been achieved i hope the players dont take their eye off the ball for the rest of the year. We have a terrible record in Wexford...

Re: KILKENNY 4.18 OFFALY 1.8
I was in Nolan Park yesterday and i would say fair play to the young lads who gave it all. The first goal was a real sickner and i think we should have had a free in just before the ball broke to kilkenny who then sent it down the field where the goalie unfortunately spilled it. When the next high b...

Re: "Defeat" of the proposed rules change.
I wouldn't go as far as to ban the handpass in football, but i would look at the tackle instead. I think we should try to have the same tackle rule as used in the internatonal rules, which would mean players would be less likely to dilly dally on the ball and pass it over and back across the pitch, ...

Re: Leinster or Munster
Well its time now for a lot of lads to nail their colours to the mast. I'll be watching this in my local and it will be interesting to see how many of my fellow Offaly men will be supporting Munster. Even more interesting, if Leinster win, will the munster supporters get behind Leinster in the final

Re: Under 21 Club Hurling Championship
I would have to agree with you POTH. I cant believe the way theses fixtures are coming up. I would have gladly gone and paid my €5 or whatever it was last night, instead the county board will loose out on me and many others. Maybe they put it on Radio 3 but how many people can listen to that drivel
