Re: Offaly vs Cork - SHC Qualifier Rnd 2 07/07/2012

I can't really see why people are complaining about the draw. The draw is made at random and if that's the way it comes out so be it. Are people suggesting that caveats should be introduced for teams who happen to be drawn away more times than not or what? Personally I think these games should be a ...

Re: Kinnitty Vs Birr

Kinnitty will have woken up this morning rueing missed chances in yesterdays first half. Unlike POTH, I think Kinnitty could have won this game yesterday and I feel the ten minutes before half time Kinnitty really believed this themselves and let loose. Unfortunately for them, in this period they mi...

Re: u21 result

As some people have mentioned already the skill levels of the KK players last night was far better than the Offaly players. I think Offaly players could have have missed 25 to 30 jab lifts or opportunities to get the ball to hand quickly. KK players don't mess up these chances. I feel the execution ...

Re: Hurling Rules being ignored

Another couple for the list. 1. When a player has almost fully broken past the tackle and lashes back with the hurl to put off opponent to gain the extra bit of space needed to strike the ball. Eoin Kelly of Tipp and Tommy Walsh are the best exponents of this. Not alone is this against the rules but...

Re: OFFALY V KILKENNY.

Kilkenny 2-24 Offaly 0-12. I think its a very unfortunate sign of the times that when Offaly are beaten by 18 points at a canter form Kilkenny that so many of the posts are highlighting the good workrate and defensive play from Offaly. Are expectations in Offaly really that low that when Offaly must...

Youth Policy or Rotation Policy

It has been mentioned alot over the past few months about how Joe Dooley has introduced a youth policy within the hurling set up and hopes to progress things over the next few years. I remember well how only 4 years ago John McIntyre was brought in as manager and he opened his reign with the same de...

Re: Offaly 4-22 Laois 2-12

Positives: Offaly started well and kept up a decent intensity for the majority of the game. Ger Oakley was solid at centre back. Horan played well at wing back and looks like he has the pace, skill and know how to play well at this level. Rigney and Mahon were very industrious at midfield, I like th...

Re: Players opting out

Agree with you OF to a point. It is the manager and selectors who decide what criteria that have to be met to be selected. In some counties e.g. Offaly - perhaps two weeks to a month of regular attendance at training and playing well is enough to be selcted and to hold your place on the teame.g. Dam...

Re: Players opting out

[quote="green&white"]Morale is low at the moment, and unfortunatley it breeds selfishness! Selfishness in players attitude and the way they play. Most players worry only about themselves and what they score, concede etc. Tends to discourage team-work, team-play and general back-up amon...

Re: Expectation from the NHL this year?

Can anyone post the full panel of players that was listed for Sundays game? Can anyone confirm or deny the rumours that Shane O' Connor and Barry Teehan have left the panel? How many Birr lads and who will be called into the panel. Personally I would select Mullins,Claffey,Verney,Watkins,Rory Hannif...
