In fairness Athlumney Boy, Dylan Hayden? He was only on for 10 mins or so and got one ball. To me he is one overrated hurler. His effort levels would be way below the likes of Sean Ryan, and whilst he has the skill, this effort is the difference at the top level, (in reality should be the other way around!)
Alan Egan was very poor also, and looks too light for this level.
Carroll, I thought fought hard, and got a few scores, (one great pull on a ball that rebounded from the post being the highlight).
Dempsey must have had a poor run of form, as the keeper didnt exactly set the world on fire. Hopefully he can get his game going again as he looked a decent prospect last year.

Great to see a run of hurlers from the county getting this top flight preperation and will help to bulk up the panel for the year.

The Sigerson and Fitzgibbon cups are back in full swing again. Have seen a few games down in Limerick and there is strong offaly interest(player wise) so far. UL started their fitzgibbon campaign last thursday in dreadful conditions with 4 offAly players starting, James Dempsey, Michael Verney, Brian Carrol and Shane Dooley. Dylan Hayden also on the panel. Dempsey and Verney were solid. Carroll was poor as was Dooley. Both taken off. Still a handy win over St. Pats, won by 10.

Athlone beat UL in the Sigerson on Wednesday, Couldnt really make out who was actually starting for athlone, but Shaper and Brian Connor were starting and both played well. Matt Mitchell and a few others are in with them but not sure if they were playing. Stephen Lonergan played for UL.
pull hard on your man, he's no relation
