Re: Intermediate Football Championship

Doon 2-15 Cappincur 1-5 Disappointing day in the clubs first outing in Intermediate. A scoreline of 0-7 to 0-3 at half time was the result of an evenly contested first half where chances were missed by both sides, including a penalty by Doon. Cappincur came out the 2nd half and following 2 points fr...

Re: Intermediate Football Championship

I will have more interest than usual in the IFC this year as my own club, Cappincur, will be playing in the second tier of football for the first time in a long long time! First up is Doon. Realistically this year is about consolidation and gaining a foothold and not falling back into Junior. I wou...

Re: Intermediate Football Championship

Birr are always a tricky team to play when they are putting in the effort. They seem to be this year anyway! Haven't lost a game in Division 3 and are leading the way. The two Ryans, the two Lonergans, Barry Harding and Thomas Bolger would make most club teams in the county. I really am looking for...

Re: U21 Championship

This championship has been very drawn out in comparison to the hurling equivalent and how it has been run in previous years. I think it is clear to say that the losers back door system was a waste of time this year unfortunately. St. Broughans and K/K both give walkovers in it and also St. Colms gav...

Wins for Ballycumber/Tubber over Edenderry and St. Vincents over Na Fianna at the weekend in the Q/Fs. Anybody know how Rhode and Tullamore faired last night?

Re: Offaly minor hurlers

So Q/Fs are:

Offaly v Laois
Carlow v Dublin

With Kilkenny and Wexford awaiting the winners. Will this be an open draw or is it already decided does anybody know?

Re: Offaly minor hurlers

Impressive win for Carlow minors away to Westmeath today. This really does seem to be an open championship this year! Wexford and Dublin currently neck and neck also! Would not be surprised of Laois turned over KK at this rate! It sort of reminds me of what I heard during the week regarding soccer. ...

Re: 74 is the magic number!

Old Hurlers, and New Sticks Back in 2006 eyebrows were raised with a story by Dermot Crowe on Tim Byrnes aged 64 who was still hurling at Junior C level in Galway with Padraig Pearses. It was a colourful piece in which Tim recounted playing against the sons of men he had mighty battles against in th...

74 is the magic number!

St Gabriel's Kerril Burke (74) may well be the oldest player to score in a game. Burke, who is the London club's chairman togged out for the second half of their division 2 league match against Thomas McCurtain's as they only had 14 players and needed to start the second half with the full complimen...

Re: Offaly Minors

Meath up next in Q/F. Tough test and rough draw in comparison to who they could have drawn.

Lost to Mayo by 2 points last Sunday.
Playing Tipperary this Sunday.

Re: If you are withdrawing from the football manager job rac

Tom Coffey got off the mark with his new Athlone side, with a 1-8 to 0-5 win over the Downs in the first round of the championship. Very impressive win
