With a returning and hungry Oisin Kelly it will add the bit of physicality we lacked last couple of years

Hopefully Johnny Kelly has a bit more sense regarding Oisin’s positioning on a team than Arien Delaney does.

Why, where does he play him.

He played the first 30 seconds vs Shinrone at FF. Scored an instant point. Then spent the remainder of his time on the field as a deep lying midfielder. Didn’t score again from play but won 2 frees that were converted.

In fairness, Belmont had shinrone bet, and well bet at that. When he had to come off, so did the wheels for Belmont.

He clearly didn’t have to come off.

Was a management call.

I thought the same, even leave him at 14 and be a distraction. Mentioned this to a work colleague who has a nephew on the team. He said kelly had to come off and was not in a good way. It didn't appear thst way so don't know the full storey.

Was limping the whole game. I would say he was played out the field because of this.
May stop less sharp turning on his injured knee.

Oisín had to be taken off because he was struck into the cojones which was viewed as a deliberate attempt to injure him as it had happened to another Belmont player earlier in the game and also to a Rynaghs player the previous week.

Nothing worse than a slap into the sack

Offaly combined schools making some headway would be great to see a team compete in this championship as it just shows you how strong we are at that age group.

On a side note crazy to think we need three schools combined to compete at this level.
SBCS used to hold there own there for years.

Offaly should be winning this competition really. They have maybe 4 schools at decent level in Birr, Banagher, Kilcormac and Tullamore with probably three of whom could compete at A grade on their own if they really pushed it on. The Offaly U17s were good enough to win All Ireland minor championship in 22 and so most of these guys are available - plus older lads like Alex Kavanagh and Colin Spain, both of whom hurled for KK in co senior final this year. There are not too many teams in A grade schools hurling so they will be straight in with big hitters in next round. I'd be disappointed if a combined Offaly team could not win this competition given the talent available to them at this point in time.

I was wondering what was up with no Colaiste Choilm players. Reading the match report they explained that it was to avoid burnout as most are dual players. I have to say that this approach is to be commended as enough is enough sometimes.

Combined schools absolutely should win out leinster. Basically the 2022 Minor team with a few from 2021. Pity they can't go beyond leinster.
