Killeigh and Killurin are in the same parish, they have been Senior in the past as Killeigh. If you can’t spell the name properly, then piss off. We have 3 players on the Offaly Senior Hurling panel for your information. If you check the map you will find Killeigh, but you won’t find Kelligh anywhere, but in your ignorant brain.

Probably best you read through today’s posts there chief. I’m thoroughly capable of spelling Killeigh but it seems that some Clodaigh Gaels apologist isn’t.

Go and have a look at the team sheet and the list of players' clubs before you come out with rubbish like this.
It's an insult to the management who have done a great job with this bunch of lads.
I probably never seen as wide a spread of clubs represented before with a county minor hurling team.

On the balance of play today Kilkenny were the stronger team. No shame in that. We are trying to promote two codes equally as best in our county and to have two squads reach provincial finals is a good achievement in a small county.

Success for us would be in producing 4 or 5 potential future senior stars from the squad and from looking at these lads today and in the past they are definitely there.

Didnt see game but listened to part on 103. Certainly got it harder than expected in early stages. Very hard to not take the game for granted given it was Sligo. Though after a difficult 30 mins in fairness, we ran out 22 pt winners so cant really complain.

Think management will be happy that lots of squad got run out. Will be big competition for places now with a chance to win a trophy in Croke Park on the line. Murphy started and did well by all accounts, Dooley too so likes of Kinsella and few more will be pushing hard to get back into team for next day. More competition in backs now with Keenaghan, Quinn Rigney and Watkins among others all looking to get in.

I think this was best outcome we could have had given next day will be stiffer test. A bit of a test in first half today will ensure complacency is not allowed again and we dont make same mistakes as we did last year going up to Down.

Sligo scored 2-17 against Offaly on the same day that Galway only managed 1-14 against Dublin.

that hardly matters generally. offaly scored 2.39 tipp scored 3.23. means zilch

Offaly played Tipp & Wexford last week.

Jesus lads its hardly news that we’d struggle to play any selection of Tipperary panelists? This year not withstanding its a lot of the same group of players who have struggled representing offaly at various age groups. Do you think any serious hurling county would have been given a run of it by Sligo? Never mind conceding goals to them?

I have no idea why offaly would be playing tipperary. Better off playing carlow or westmeath if possible. Maybe a top club side. Tipperary, especially in challenges, love to hammered teams.

All things are relative. We’re finally beating teams that were happy to see us for the last few years. That sort of talk should just be motivation for our boys to push on. Why are we playing Tipp? That’s a question for the management I suppose. Don’t be surprised if they have sound rationale for this. We can’t be privy to every turn of the screw. I’d be an advocate of signing up for seemingly more ‘competitive’ outings, but the man in charge seems to be getting a lot out his panel so far.

This is the thing. There are two ways to play hurling. One way when you have the ball, another way when you don't.

While traditional Offaly hurling is based on giving the ball away to the opposition and working your nuts off to get it back, you would expect that the new Offaly would be attempting to retain possession themselves. That said, the fact they gave Sligo enough possession to allow them score 2-17 suggests things mightn't be changing as quickly as we'd like.

But if you're planning to monopolize possession, why would you pick a challenge game against an opposition where you are going to be left chasing? As Private Joker says, a Joe McDonagh team who were idle last weekend were arguably the optimum opposition.

Another thing. The opposition in this case were fifteen individuals, as opposed to a team. It is worrying that Offaly were destroyed on this manner. It suggests Offaly had ample opportunity to practice their puckout options. Sadly, a lot of those plans blew up in their faces.

It's nearly worse to play 'possibles' instead of the 'probables' with a hurling county like Tipp with a large pool. The fringe players are itching to put up a big score and build their reputation. The first team wouldn't be half as bothered.
