Leinster minor hurling semi final draw

Post by Bord na Mona man »

Semi-Final Draw:

Offaly V Carlow
Kilkenny V Dublin

That could be a very tricky match against Carlow.
We were lucky enough to beat them by a point earlier in the championship.
Since then they have beaten Wexford.

Thanks for this, BnaM Man.

Carlow is a tough draw - they should have beaten Offaly from all accounts and they've beaten Laois, Westmeath (of course) and Wexford - they've won the last 3 U-16 All-Irelands if I heard Midlands 103 right. The Midlands 103 expert went on to say that they are trained by a Kilkenny man Tommy Buggy who is still mad at his native county for dropping him in 1984. Anyway it's tough but Dublin have an Indian sign over us in knock-out minor and U-21 the last few years so there would have been no easy draws.

The Leaving Certificate exams have supposedly in the past been a problem for Offaly minors - they used to take a break from training - I don't know what the plans are this year. There's a couple of weeks between the exams and the Leinster semi-final on June 24. Any news on where it'll be - Portlaoise? or Kilkenny?

I'd settle for that draw. I know this particular Carlow team deserve a lot of respect for their displays so far, but they might be slightly easier to overcome than Dublin and Kilkenny appear to be hurling very well. It would be a boost to reach a Leinster final at this grade again, but an awful lot of people would love to see Carlow in a Leinster minor hurling final as well.

Good draw for the minor hurlers. They were lucky to beat Carlow in the round robbin but by all accounts Offaly have improved greatly and fancy their chances BIG TIME in Leinster this year. Maybe we'll get a good run with both minor teams this year. Best of luck to the footballers in Aughrim on sathurday.
