Two month suspension for Kilmurray
Friday, April 21, 2006

Offaly manager Kevin Kilmurray has received a two-month suspension from the Games Administration Committee at Croke Park following its monthly meeting.

Kilmurray was handed down the suspension for verbally abusing referee Michael Ryan during Offaly’s recent National football league clash with Monaghan.
Ryan added the attack in his match report and Kilmurray, along with county board chairman requested a personal hearing over the alleged incident.

The GAC deferred making a decision when the hearing was first held, but following talks with the referee decided to press ahead with the suspension.
Kilmurray will now have to manage the side from the sides for their opening few matches of the Leinster championship or qualifiers, depending on how they fare.

KK ban

Post by The Biff »

You should have included a "positive" vote option along the lines that it may help the team, because he should get a better view of the play from a higher vantage point. Of your options given, even the middle one smacks of indifference to his influence.

Just in the interests of good democracy like

Any chance we could appeal this ruling? Then we could sabotage our case and he could get banned from the ground altogether. Just thinking tactically, like.

Hardly. No disrespect to the man, but having met him he's anything but manager material - he strikes me as a little indecisive and certainly not convincing. Even if he did have good ideas - which I'm sure we'd have seen some evidence of by now if he did - he wouldn't be the best man in the world to get those ideas across.

As for Ollie being a selector, that has to be a joke. Please God let it be a joke ....

What exactly does a two month ban mean for a manager ?
Is it just games or is he banned from all activity i.e. training, dressing room etc ?

Kilmurray

Hyper is spot on - Kilmurray can have no role with the team during his suspension. Gerry Cooney will be acting manager for the 8 weeks with Ollie Daly acting as selector.

How in the name of god can Oille Daly be co-opted onto Senior Management? Will he now have a role in the selection of the team?

If that doesnt smack of a dictatorship i dont what does.

I would've assumed that a ban for a manager meant a sideline ban, that he would have to watch the match from the stands. I didn't think it affected taking training session and role as manager outside the match day ban.
