Réalt Dearg, hurling in 2012

Post by themaninred+black »

Hi all,

Thanks to our fantastic PRO I'd say a considerable number of you have heard the name Réalt Dearg in the last two years. We've made really good progress over that time and now have two adult hurling teams in the cup, league and championship and one team in the Leinster League also. This year we were disappointed not to get silverware but got to the championship semi with the A team and the B's made it to the championship quarter final. The A's secured promotion in the league but unfortunately were narrowly defeated after extra time in the league final replay. Great achievements for a club that consisted of about 6 lads running on a beach less than two years ago!

We would like to repeat our invitation to anyone interested in getting involved with the club to give us a shout and come down to meet us. Our goal is to get as many people back hurling as possible as there is a serious problem of people moving to Dublin and then giving up hurling as they can no longer make the trek home for training. We aim to always have a team entered in one of the junior divisions for guys who either haven't hurled in a few years or for lads who are only taking up the sport(You'd be surprised at how fast lads improve!). At the same time we also aim to get teams up the divisions as fast as possible so we have a wide range of levels in the club. We even have a guy starting half forward who played minor for Offaly a few years ago! If you are only in Dublin temporarily and need a club to train with then please come down as the more we have at training the better.

We are also looking for people to get involved as selectors, managers, trainers so if you have any interest in that please contact us either here or by going to www.realtdearg.ie and calling/texting/emailing one of the lads in the committee section.

Training will recommence in late January or early-mid February next year as the cup competitions start very early so not too far away! We really have a great atmosphere in the club and have had great response from discussion forums in the past so don't write off your hurling career just yet!

Thanks again,

Hi again,

Just a quick reminder that training will start back with Réalt Dearg this year at the start of February. First game is on the 21st Feb so if you are looking to get involved as a player and be eligible for first round of matches you should contact us as soon as you can by emailing realtdearg.hurlingclub@gmail.com or visit www.realtdearg.ie and go to committee and contacts section.

We would also appreciate people getting involved as managers/selectors for both teams!
