I was just wondering did many of ye watch this programme?
I think its all intermediate teams that are in the competition .
Maryland of Westmeath won it last year ang that small club from a village in Co.Down winning it this year.
It would be great to see a club from Offaly appear on it next year .
Dose anyone know if RTE look for the clubs to do it or they clubs go to RTE?
It would be some way of promoting a club
I tought it was a brilliant programme ang hope there will be another series next year.

I think at this stage the clubs are angling to take part, so RTE generally don't bother trying to find them. In fairness, if you were an intermediate club itching to get up to senior, the idea of television cameras ensuring that your lads were training solid and well from January up until the end of April would be fairly appealing.

A lot depends on what celebrities they can get as well. It would be no good Walsh Island or Birr lining themselves up to take part if there wasn't an Offaly celebrity willing to take on the management role.

I'm guessing Richie mightn't like the line of explanation at the start of the programme explaining why he's a celebrity as opposed to a plain old bainisteoir.

The idea of the show seemed to be to pick someone who had very little hands on experience off GAA and have a mentor bring them through the ropes.
In previous series you've had one like Andrea Roche and Glenda Gilson who hadn't a breeze about gaelic games. Despite one being from the arse end of Tipperary and the other being the niece of Railway Cup hurler Liam Lawlor.

So that probably rules out Simon Casey or Eamon Horan who would have played at a high level. If Brian Cowen was at a loose end and bizarrely wanted to take part, he was a prominent player in his day, so it wouldn't really work.

Most Offaly people become nationally recognised because of the GAA.
Maybe Neil Delamere, Mundy or Girvan Dempsey could fit the bill. If you were looking for a bird with Offaly connections, then maybe Cora Venus Lunny who is the daughter of Donal Lunny might do the trick.
