SF challenge: Kingston stars in Laois win
05 May 2009
Teenage sensation Donie Kingston kicked 0-7 - 0-4 from play - as Laois came from behind to beat neighbours Offaly in a senior football challenge at Portarlington yesterday.
Laois1-15
Offaly..0-15
With Niall McNamee in fine scoring form, Offaly led 0-9 to 1-4 at half-time after playing with the aid of a strong wind. The Laois goal was scored by wing back Peter O'Leary.
Points from McNamee and half-time substitute Thomas Deehan kept Tom Cribbin's men ahead throughout most of the second half, but four unanswered points in the last five minutes ensured that the Colm Maher Memorial Cup would be staying in Laois.
