Offaly Team for the Qualifiers

Post by bazza »

Enough of the rubbish. Pick the best 15 and put them out on the pitch and play football offaly style. Offaly is too small not to have dual players.

Manager - Stephen Darby
Selectors - Whoever he thinks will add something to the set up... the likes of Finbarr Cullen or Vinney Claffey maybe.

1. Padraig Kelly
2. G. Rafferty/ R. Dalton
3. S. Sullivan
4. S. Casey
5. N. Coughlan
6. P. McConway
7. K. Slattery
8. N. Smith
9 C. MacManus/ J. kelly
10. S. Ryan
11. G. O'Grady
12. K. Casey
13. Derek Molloy
14. Pj. Ward... Left footed free-taker
15. Niall Mac.. Right Footed free-taker

Subs: D. Bracken, J. Keane, N. Grennan, T. Coughlan, A. Foy, Alan Mac, S. Cunningham, S. Dooley, Roy Malone, T. Deehan, C. Quinn, J O'Hara.

Have to shaft the likes of Brady, Kellaghan and Shaper Reynolds very very soon.

P.s. The standard on the bench last nite was a disgrace.

Every team in the qualifiers will be hoping to get us. Unless there is a monumental turnaround we won't get past the next round.

The only team Offaly can expect to beat in the back door is Tipp. Even then it would not be a certainty.
Everyone else would be delighted to draw Offaly.
There may be an advantage in that, but the current management have shown no evidence that they would be capable of taking advantage of it.

Can anyone actually say hand on heart that they would be confident of beating ANY of those in the qualifiers? I for one can not. Our record in these speaks for itself and cannot actually see where the improvement needed from last week is going to come from.

Lads here's the 15 who should start the next game in the qualifiers:

1. Padraig Kelly(Is there anyone else? Bracken maybe?)
2. G. Rafferty
3. S. Sullivan
4. N. Grennan
5. J. Keane
6. P. McConway
7. K. Slattery
8. N. Smith
9 J. kelly (Has to start - End of, and can take our long range frees/45's)
10. S. Ryan (Niall Darby possibly)
11. A. Mulhall
12. C. McManus(Cos we've no-one else)
13. J. Coughlan (Another must even if only for frees)
14. Pj. Ward
15. Niall Mac

>>>>>>>>>>>>
>> Alan McNamee will be lucky to play for the county again
>> Paschal Keeleghan I'm pretty sure will not play for the county again - Well he shouldn't
>> Normal tactics please, Play the only way we know how, use our attacking wing backs to over-lap, and quick ball into full-forward line
>> Keep mad Mac & genius Mc away from taking frees please
>> Allow Niall Smith to anchor midfield, Jason Kelly must be given license to move forward.
>> Would Pat Roe, Kieran Rigney & laz Molloy please fuck off away from the panel and stop making a mockery of it all.
>> ........... END OF RANT!!

Any thoughts   ?????????? :D :D :D

Hocker, I'd agree with most of the team but Fox should be in CB and forget about PJ, he's not in there. You can only work with the lads that are in there in all fairness. I'd also make sure Derby was on the half back line, he showed well last weekend. I'd stick Ciran Mac in FF and put David Egan in wing forward.

This is a great chance for the Management to give newer lads a C'ship run. I'm sure most of these lads don't want to walk away from all the work and would give the back door a right good shot if they got a chance. It's a great chance to look at the team for next year which means giving the younger/newer lads a shot at it. I know a lot of them would jump at the chance if given it.

Anyone with any feedback on how things have been going since last weekend? Have they even gone back training since?

You'd imagine there would have to be a little bit of a toxic atmosphere which would need to be purged before we could start preparing for any qualifiers.
Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

Heard (pub talk) that the panel (well, most of them) met up at the weekend in Dublin where a meeting was held and a few topics were discussed...
This led to the mother and father of all drinking sessions - surprise surprise.

Ara, sure they deserve the auld session too i suppose.

Anyone else hear anythin from this?

They're with their clubs for this week and then its back full pelt with the county next week. There were supposed to be junior a and intermediate championship games games scheduled for this weekend but due to several players being involved with the U21 hurlers these have been now deferred to a later date.

If I was in charge of the team I would pick this team from the current set up. There at least ten lads not on the current panel who I would have in there, but there not in there for whatever reason...

Kelly

McConway Sullivan Slattery

Keane rafferty darby

fox smith

jason kelly mcmanus egan

deehan n. mcnamee slattery (playing as a free man).
