Bracknagh 0-09 Edenderry 0-09, low scoring but weather might have played a factor, anyone at the game ?

Re: Club football championship 2023
After today's games:
- Rhode will top group 2 unless Bracknagh can beat them.
- Bracknagh will make the quarter finals unless they lose by at least 17 to Rhode and Edenderry vs Shamrocks ends in a draw.
- The loser of Shamrocks and Edenderry will be in the relegation playoff. If that game ends in a draw then Shamrocks will be in the relegation playoff unless Bracknagh lose by at least 17 to Rhode.

A fine day, but there was a strong wind favouring Edenderry in the opening half. They led 0-5 to 0-3 at the break. Bracknagh went for goals, when points were an option. Edenderry’s No 1 had a few good saves. In the second half Edenderry were 0-9 to 0-5 ahead with 5/6 minutes left.kingscounty wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 5:24 pm Bracknagh 0-09 Edenderry 0-09, low scoring but weather might have played a factor, anyone at the game ?
They had a goal chance saved, when a point would have left them 5 up.
Bracknagh scored 3 points in a row, and equalised from a late free. Peter Cunningham at 14 was impressive for Bracknagh
Re: Club football championship 2023
Huge result for Bracknagh. Still unbeaten and almost certainly in a quarter final now. You'd expect Edenderry to beat Shamrocks given Shamrocks Rhode result this evening but you never know. Edenderry from what I have heard are having their own troubles recently with removal of their senior football manager etc.... I know Shamrocks are missing a few but they seem to be going backwards fast and this evenings hammering by a cricket score only confirms that. If I recall correctly, they were able to draw with Tullamore in championship only two years ago and seem way off that level now and it appears that it'll be an almost certain relegation final between themselves and Clara this year.
Have to say, most unusual result coming out of Senior B with Gracefield absolutely hammering Tubber. Tubber would have been favourites for that one and now they appear to be in serious jeopardy of not even making a q-final having been involved in finals and semi finals for last number of years. You'd have to ask how there can be so many one sided contests in 8 team competitions with Tubber, Clara and Shamrocks being beaten by 17-20 points doesn't sit well in terms of the health of these clubs and the senior championship.

Re: Club football championship 2023
I'll give Shamrocks the benefit of the doubt in that they are down 8 starting players so it's hard to take anything from the results so far, the interesting thing will be whether they can get some of those 8 back for an almost certain relegation playoff with Clara.jimbob17 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 8:31 pm Huge result for Bracknagh. There's something very odd going on with Tubber, they won the league final 6 weeks ago against Clonbullogue and would've been one of the favourites to win the championship, they were beaten by 9 against Ballycommon two weeks ago which seemed strange at the time but today's result confirms there's something else at play. Are players refusing to play or what? Because if Tubber had their full team they would've almost certainly won today never mind lose by 19. In terms of the health of the senior championship, we can now say after today that there are only 3 clubs capable of winning the Dowling Cup and we thought 4 was bad...

Some round 2 milestones
The 20 points is Tullamore’s biggest win since beating St Brigid’s 7-13 to 0-3 (31 points) in 2015.
And the same 20 points is Clara’s biggest defeat since losing to Rhode 1-8 to 5-18 (22 points), which was also in 2005.
And Bracknagh stand on the cusp of a first Senior quarter-final appearance since 2002, when wins over Ballyfore, Doon and Shannonbridge, together with a draw with St Brigid’s, saw them emerge from their group. The east Offaly side were also quarter-finalists in 1985 and 1986 in a straight knockout championship.
