Rynaghs were very impressive at the weekend. All their forwards were very dangerous and Declan Tanner had a big game in midfield. KK played some excellent ground hurling in first half moving the ball very fast but totally gave in when Rynaghs got the lead in the second half. I expect KK to bounce back now. They have been a very consistent team the last number of years reaching finals and semi finals. They will be in the shake up at the end of season i have no doubt. James Gorman had an excellent game for KK scoring some lovely points.

From what i heard elsewhere, Kinnitty were hugely impressive and the Coolderry result speaks for itself really. They will do that to any team if they get a run on them anyhow.

Any updates on David Kennys injury from the Birr game. He is a major doubt for the Wexford game now?

According to the Midland Tribune only seven Ballyskenagh players who started the 2008 Intermediate Final also started at the weekend. Can anybody clarify why this is?

Also with regards to the Midland Tribune, I was quite disappointed to see them being pessimistic about the new championship format at the beginning of the Shinrone v Shamrocks article. To base one's opinions at such an early stage(1) about a brand new system(2) on a game featuring two of the poorest club sides in Offaly club hurling(3) playing in atrocious weather(4) is short sighted and downright poor journalism. The chances of those two club sides, all respect intended, ever serving up a high quality cracker of a contest are slim to none.

This the same paper that in its preview of the championship a week previously, called Birr, Kinnitty, K/K and Coolderry good and better than the rest (fair enough), while the remaining eight teams were all generally young and/or 'more than capable of causing a shock on any given day', or something to that effect. All teams praised and no objective assessments of the teams that we all know, in reality, are very, very poor.

Will the Offaly Independent in it's new format be covering the Offaly SHC to the same extent as last year? Last year I thought it and the Shark did a great job.
