Jason Sampsons appeal must not have been successful,

One would have to question eoin cahills fitness anyone who was at the loais gave woukd have seem him almost carried to the dressing rooms at half time didn't look like someone who would be ready after a week

I hope David nally recovers as quick

Very disappointed but not surprised considering the manager with our team selection for the game tomorrow. Absolutely no need to start Cathal King, Donal Shirley and Dan Bourke with an U20 knockout game on Wednesday night.

Particularly in the case of King and Bourke who have been exposed to a very heavy workload.

I'll give Kelly the benefit of the doubt and assume that he's not going to play them, and it's just to avoid Meath getting all riled up with the idea that Offaly aren't taking them seriously.

We're 18 point favourites here, I can't remember any time when a favourite of that scale got beaten. It's not disrespectful to say that we would easily win this game without the U-20s, it would be completely different if this was the Kerry game. If he does play them, it's a clear sign that relations have deteriorated terribly, and it could be time for the county board to step in.
Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

Personally I think getting out of Joe McDonagh is more important than u20 and there can't be any room for complacency.
Absolutely whip lads off after 50 mins if we are well up but until then go with our strongest, in-form selection.

Shirley will have grown in confidence from his performance after introduction last week while Cathal King has been ever consistent.

Do we have confirmation on the extent of Nally & Ravenhills injuries? Both would have been key players for our Joe McDonagh hopes I feel.

Think it's vital Oisin gets a good run out this weekend. Hopefully Charlie Mitchell can get into the game early, his workrate can't be doubted and he took some nice scores in flashes last week.

Don't know a whole pile about Meath but no doubt they will be primed to bounce back after last week's defeat to Laois.

A win is all that matters

Lads here still don't know what is more important. U20 is a developmental championship. Offaly at all costs must win the joe mcdonagh. Having said all that I wouldn't be surprised if the u20s didn't play, offaly will hammer meath.

It's unfortunate, but I believe Offaly need to start with a strongish team.
The downsides of putting out an experimental team
- It sends a message to Offaly players that this game will be a cakewalk and doesn't need to be taken seriously
- It fires up Meath.
- The game will inevitably be a closer contest than anyone expected.
- Belief and momentum will be lost if Offaly are making heavy work of it.
- Doubly so, if big guns have to be thrown on to steady the ship.

The Carlow group last year showed that there isn't a second string Offaly almost as good as the starting 15. Far from it.

24 years ago, Offaly were playing Derry in an All Ireland quarter-final. Offaly decided this was going to be a straightforward win and rested key players. Offaly were initially cruising, but then started to implode in the second half. They had to throw on Brian Whelahan, Joe Dooley and Joe Errity to help hang on for the win.

Have to agree with start with your strongest, there's nothing to be achieved by not doing it you learn nothing and start from scratch the next time

Eoghan Cahill was due to be named as a sub last Saturday but some form of admin error prevented this.
It was clear as day to anyone on the terrace that David Nally won’t hurl again for quite a while.

I agree with hurling the 20s. Have this game out of sight by half time and then start to make the changes.

You never know if score difference will come into the equation or not, but for once it would be no harm to actually have it on our side.

Whatever is spoken about us lacking physically and technically, there’s not half enough spoken about the mentality element of what we’re at.

Absolutely brainless stuff here and there’s only 5 points in it now at half time.

5-31 to 3-16 , a win as expected, wouldn’t be to impressed with us conceding what we did but we didn’t look to be hell for leather either.

Yes our strongest 15 need to be on the pitch playing together and building momentum and understanding and playing together
