Would I be right in thinking it has to do with substitutions?

i will give it to you gunnerman you have it half right. Jim and John troy are the only brother's to play in three consecutive leinster final's in the senior and minor

Jim senior 87,88,89
John minor 87,88,89

they could have been 86 only for Jim to get hurt in the semil again laois and damien martin played in goal in 86
john was a sub on the 1986 minor team, as yes they all played in goal's. well done gunnerman i thought i would get longer out of that one.

I dont think the years you have quoted are right there. Offaly minors didnt reach leinster final in 1988- did the cats not beat them in portlaoise in the semi final powered by Adrian Ronan?

Kilkenny bet Offaly 2-16 to 0-6 in the 1988 Leinster Minor Final

Offaly were going for 3 Leinster minor titles in a row.

My years are right coolestown1562, we also came back in 1989 to play kilkenny in the leinster minor final it was a draw the first day
but the cats had no answer for us in the replay in portlaoise. that was the evening that one of the best hurlers to come out of birr
put on a show of hurling from midfield Adrian cahill . we got into four leinster minor hurling finals in -a- row in the 80's.

I Remember the 1988 minor final the cats had a great minor team that year, DJ carey, pat o'neill, charlie carter, adrian ronan they won the
minor that year after beating cork in the final.
