Re: U/21 V Kilkenny goes ahead
lads as earlier posters said it happens to small counties they are afraid that the likes of Cork , KK might be beat.
Just last week KK got Leinster Intermediate final postponed while Loais couldn't get their game off against Antrim.
I also agree with other poster nothing has being done to accomadate fans of Offaly both matches on Saturday should have being played in Portlaoise or the football played in Croke Park after Leinster final it's unfair but lets hope that all supporters which ever match they go to will get behind the teams.

They didn't even have to stretch themselves that much, half hour earlier for the hurling and half hour later for the football and it would have made it possible - tight, but possible.athlumneyboy wrote: both matches on Saturday should have being played in Portlaoise or the football played in Croke Park after Leinster final it's unfair but lets hope that all supporters which ever match they go to will get behind the teams.

I've just vented to [email protected]. Not that it will make an iota of difference but I feel the better for it.

Sawing down the goalposts in Tullamore might be more effective!Treasurer wrote:I've just vented to [email protected]. Not that it will make an iota of difference but I feel the better for it.

Wexford seemed to have no problem getting an U21 postponement when they drew with Dublin.
The whole thing is baffling.

Re: U/21 V Kilkenny goes ahead
It's hard to see why any county board would seriously try to promote both football and hurling. It seems there is far more to be gained by following the leading lights in the GAA, Kerry and Kilkenny and ignoring one game to the benefit of the other.
However, while there is a genuine gripe for the few hardly souls who do travel to games, the reality is that Offaly can not expect anything from the GAA on the basis of hardship to supporters. In terms of numbers, Offaly must be one of the worst supported counties in either code.
With all the commitees, studys and whatever your having that they have gone through in the last 10 years, they seem to have achieved the wonderful feat of making the fixture list a bigger fuck up each time.

Re: U/21 V Kilkenny goes ahead
Its a hard ask but we can take them both .The top brass of the gaa would be quiet happy to have cork ,tipp & kk in all ireland every year .The likes of us and antrim ,laois ,They couldnt give a curse about samaller counties. The best answer to give them is beat the fuckers .Wednesday night is hughly important ,to have young lads playing in future who can say they won something especially against kk .We all know what brennan and other kk men think of us behind the scene ,so lets remind them THEY ARE IN OUR HOUSE WEDNESDAY NIGHT ,SO BRING THEM ON .
Re: U/21 V Kilkenny goes ahead
Its a disgrace that this is allowed to happen.
Even some of the posters on upthedeise.com are appalled at such treatment.
It won't be changed and we'll just have to show 'em what we're made of.
Allez!

Re: U/21 V Kilkenny goes ahead
As turk says. Latest news. Maybe our county board decided 'no mas'.
The GAA's Leinster Council has within the past hour decided to postpone this Wednesday's Leinster Under 21 Hurling Championship Final between Offaly and Kilkenny, at the request of the Offaly County Board.
Offaly chiefs were angered after the Under 21 decider had been fixed midweek, in between two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Qualifiers involving the Faithful County.
Eight of the under 21 side were involved in last Saturday's 10-point Senior victory over Limerick, with Joe Dooley's charges set to face Waterford this weekend.
The Under 21 final has now been refixed for Thursday week, July 24th with a 7.15pm throw-in, following the agreement of the Offaly and Kilkenny's County Board's, and the Leinster Council.
Shane Gavin. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

Fair play Treas, the vent must have worked a treat.
All systems go, still a pity about the football/hurling clash but two out of three ain't bad.

Sense prevails.
Amazing what can happen when you put a bit of pressure on!
