Barrog from Dublin bet oulart in intermediate, Trim bet Danesfort of kk. Which was an exceptional win. Oulart have slipped back massively. Will do well to stay in tier 1 in wexford.

The is an irony to Meath and Kildare clubs making strides in hurling. For years both these counties have been correctly criticised for underperforming at intercounty football.
With the big populations they have, the big-time Charlie corporate jackasses throwing money around, players all locally based, the constant inward migration of GAA expertise from other counties, they should have been breathing down Dublin's neck all these recent years.
Now they're making strides in hurling, as it turns out.

There are lessons for Offaly too. There is a bigger yield in getting the urban places more productive. The clubs that traditionally produced hurlers in the past that are now dwindling in population and won't be backboning any future success.

The coaching and hurling development work has been strong in the Naas and Naomh Barrog catchment areas for the last few years. I assume the same for Trim. Clearly they didn't sit back and wait for talented 'natural hurlers' to come through.

Are Shinrone happy enough with a single county title?

They will have to back it up and not be seen as a flash in the pan. They've good panel in fairness, it will give hope to a lot of teams next year.. The likes of Belmont and Ballinamere will look at what Shinrone did and say why not us

Don't think ballinamere are miles off it at all. Year on year seem to be improving. Drew with shinrone last number of years. Wont win a county for a while but I'd say a semi final is within their grasp in the next two to three years.

Agree with you.

People were saying the same about Shinrone last year. Ballinamere have a big contingency of County players too.. With young Ravenhill and Burke now available for senior.

Correct. Shinrone will have to retain the title next year. That won’t be easy.

Birr beat Ballinamere by 15 or 16 pts in QF this year. I would say Birr are a bit away from winning a county final so not sure where it leaves B/D

That's one game, B/D are clearly on a upwards curve. Compared with the likes of coolderry , who are clearly on a downwards curve. I'd day Birr are not as far off. Huge potential to do something if they can find a way of playing and maybe up or 2 more players.

Remember Offaly clubs contested both the 2012 and 2013 All Ireland hurling finals but our senior county hurlers were already in terminal decline by then.

At this stage the club performances is becoming less of a bellwether for county level.
Moycullen beat Westport by 17 points on Sunday but I don't see anyone thinking the same fate awaits Mayo next year.
Last year Rynaghs were seconds away from beating Ballyhale. I doubt Offaly hurling overall has regressed that much in 12 months.
