Heard that the offaly hurlers have played both tipperary and galway in recent weeks, not sure how they got on.

Any word coming out of the camp?

Played tipperary in FF. Lost 4 19 to 2 -18. Tipp had 3 of their starting 15 from 2022 playing. Offaly were tough and it had a bit of cut to it.

It's a higher level than minor I would imagine they would find it difficult to beat Kierans but if they did it would really show how talented they are.

We’ll be due a second fine when the GAA read about the Galway game.

What sort of team had offaly out against tipp? Was it same as last years team or was it a mix of new and old faces?

Also anyone know score of Galway game?

250 fine won't discourage many teams

Absolute joke they were let into it, 90% of the minor team last yr on it and others who even played minor the previous year on it to, totally unfair to school teams in Leinster, totally unfair with all the Offaly lads competing with their own schools in it as well, almost smacks of desperation to win something!

We should have put two teams in if none of schools going into A on own. I think that 3 of our schools in Birr Kilcormac and Tullamore could have competed in it on their own with little chance of outright win.

We have particular strength at this age group as minor team showed. Add in 7 or 8 or more who were good county minors last year before or even 2020, and we are stronger again. Hard not to see other schools disallow this combined aspect next year. I'd expect that we will win the semi well enough and then final becomes a much harder affair in final.... probably against Kierans, but a combined Offaly team should be winning that.

We have 4 teams in B on own merits with at least one of our schools contenders to win that. I think Tullamore CBS and Kilcormac could go long way in B competition. We would have had a South Offaly team made up of Birr Banagher and Ferbane schools good enough to compete in A grade and similarly with likes of Tullamore schools with kilcormac, Killina and Clara. Dublin had 2 teams in combined competition. We hammered both teams and should have done same.

Was there the usual end of year ranking of all the clubs in the county done this year. Usually found it printed in the Offaly independent

Yes, both hurling and football were in over the last few weeks.

Lone Shark, you could hardly post them here could you? I missed them and am always very interested in them.

Hopefully there wasn’t one certain Drumcullen man too offended this year? Hard to get offended with your ranking I suppose when you suffer back to back relegations.

Edit - Found rankings online. Interesting read.

The rankings are on the offaly independent website. Interesting that there are now 30 clubs that fielded a football team in 2022, while only 21 hurling clubs. That is a big difference.

Interesting list, the comment about brosna gaels is Interesting. Are they really viable or worthwhile at this stage? How much hurling is Donal Shirley going to get out there?
