Yeah for definite the wheels are starting to turn. Offaly still behind the the big four of wexford, galway, kk and Dublin but ahead of laois, carlow etc. It will take work to maintain that and get closer to the "big 4". Work been done last few years is starting to show. Hope it continues.

We have to get over Westmeath first. Be great to reach Leinster Final if we win the next day.

unlucky in the under 20 but most of that dublin team won the minor leinster so they are strong enough. the minors are 60 minutes away from their first leinster final since 2004 or 03 i think be great to see the minors back in a leinster final it would be a bit of light in a long dark tunnel.

Best of luck to the minors this weekend. Reaching a leinster final for a Tier 3 county would be a great achievement!

Funnily enough the Leinster council seem to have forgotten that. Their fixture list stated last week the semifinal would be played in the home venue of the lower tier county. Im open to correction but are westmeath not ranked as a second tier county with their seniors playing at Joe Mcdonagh level, yet the game is now fixed for Mullingar apparently.

Birr looked very boggy and slow. Mullingar might suit this offaly team.

Other than Croke Park which I might add ooked worn on Sunday every pitch has looked "boggy and slow" its December 15th.

Yes, I agree. But from watching the game in particular in front of the stand was tough going, grass seemed long also. All pitches are slow now. Some slower than others.

Grass looked long?

How you would you suggest the grass is mowed on a pitch in December?

It's based on last year's performance in that actual leinster minor championship competition rather than anything to do with christy ring or joe mcdonagh or how a counties senior team is going.

Offaly must target promotion from Div. 2A, as well.

I feel its the correct decision to keep m fennely but offaly must get promoted in league and championship in 2021.
No excuses he has to deliver that and create a of bit spirit around our hurling team because their is a hunger for hurling in offaly that needs to be tapped into.

They won't be too bad. Enjoyed a win over Dublin, which is a serious scalp to take at Minor level. And Westmeath will see it as a great chance to reach the Leinster Minor hurling final. Westmeath v Offaly is a local derby for Westmeath, but not for Offaly. Westmeath are at home, so the pressure is on them to perform and to reach the Leinster final for the very first time.

I haven't had a chance to watch Offaly's win over Kildare. On paper it was a big win, what with Kildare having beaten Offaly last year, and Naas being a model club for underage development. Offaly played to a definite plan against Laois, which worked, so I presume they didn't deviate too much from that plan for Kildare. Both Offaly and Westmeath will be studying videos of the opposition, so variants of the plan will be required. Which isn't a problem, the evidence points that there is a mutual trust between the Offaly players and management. And it's great to reach an interval (water break or half-time) and for the message to be to 'trust the plan', rather than clearing the drawing board.

And Offaly are probably better off without a few hundred frustrated supporters growling 'aah get rid of it' every time someone makes a mistake. For sure they'll make mistakes over the course of the game, but there's the next ball to be won and delivered to the forwards' advantage. Doesn't mean you depart from the plan.
Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.
