Another bad performance, scoring only 14 points, conceded 2 goals and having a guy sent off, no real bounce from new management yet.

Second yellow for a late shoulder it looked like.

Eoin cahill has played a lot of hurling in the last two weeks with Mary I and offaly.

Seriously big game against antrim in ocp. However are we anywhere near the standard to compete in division one when you look at westmeath and Carlow and laois on how they are fairing out.

It would be better if the old divisions that they had lost year were in operation.

How many times has Kiely being sent off?

Having him on the field with a yellow to his name is like playing with fire.

Seen the video but there is a part missing where he makes contact. Could have been just a shoulder or he could have left a bit in it , i.e the handle of the hurl!! wouldn't be his first time.

I dont know full story with game, wasnt at it, but listened to it on R3...two schools of thought, you can say Cillian got sent off (again) which is correct, listening to the build up I am going to say he did his living best to stop the attacker going through, it did lead to a goal so he obviously seen the iminent danger, was he foolish given he was on a yellow (I think it was 2 yellows he got) possibly, had he stopped the attacker going through and they got a free and he got sent off and Offaly managed to win we would be saying he took one for the team...with no disrespect to Kerry, Offaly have players on the panel that played in Leisnter Club and All Ireland club finals (not many now maybe but a couple), isnt it frightening to think we arent capable of seeing off (even with a struggle) a team like Kerry, whom in fairness are a very decent side for the division they are in...we missed a number of frees in second half at crucial times, Kerrys second goal was scored and Cillian Kiely went off, we still had half an hour to press ahead but from what I see there was no leaders up front, hasnt been in years and no sign now either...near the end panic set in and players all pulled back and Brian Duignan was on his own in the forwards marked by 2 Kerry men, yet for all that, we still couldnt get hold of the ball sufficiently around the middle to press forward...I dont know, Antrim will beat us looking at this, Wicklow ran in 2-18 or so against Meath whom we barely beat in Birr last week...the worry with the 0-28 against Meath was there were no goals, and again yesterday, only 0-14 and again no goals..its division 2 A....worth checking but are we the only county in that Division not to score a goal yet??..not panicking after one loss, but it was a bad defeat....be it only by 3 points...away from home..

antrim will not be easy next time up, we are where we are i suppose but its incredibly frustarting being in division 2a and then not quiet struggling but defnitly not performing well. No goals after two games like yuo said is worrying. I thin we will come good though and im not pannicking just yet.

I am not sure where we are going to be honest the players just arent up to the standard that some people think we deserve to be.
Alot of very ordinary club hurlers involved with the panel and I'm not sure if there is many not on the panel who would help us a great deal.

I watched and listened to the game being streamed on Midlands Sport and I do not recall us missing any scoreable frees in the second half - Shane Conway missed 3-4 scoreable frees for Kerry

Again there is no quick fix to the level we are playing at. We are all well aware of the state of the game at county level for us for the last 20 years! It’s doesn’t matter who you get to train a team if you don’t have the quality of player to compete with the higher divisions I’m afraid we are and will be a 15/16th ranked team for a while yet. To me it seems we are addressing fitness and conditioning in both codes now but we don’t have the stylish or skilful hurlers of years past. It is hard to have the full package and if we look at the top teams there are 4-5 that can say they do . Kerry and Antrim have had our measure for many years now and they know how to beat us, how to get at us. The one thing that does disappoint me is our discipline in games, more often than not when we are in control we loose a man and it’s backs to the wall for rest of the game. Antrim up next is a must win and hopefully the boys can knuckle down forget Kerry and take the points.

i was at the game on sunday, micheal fennelly will have to take some blame for this defeat we had a gale force win behind us in the first half and offaly played as if we were again it,this short hand pass game doesn’t suit offaly they are not big enough to play it time and time again on sunday the offaly player with the ball was knock over and lost all the rucks again on sunday. our keeper short puck out to our corner back to hit down the field sure Dempsey would have puck it as far.

our first touch is burtal our striking is poor i know its early feburay but we look way off the pace. as for the sending off didnt see the first one but second one was for a late swing after kerry scored their second goal but look not his first time or last time to see red. i said before the game we had to keep 15 on the field we didnt and like in the mcdonagh cup in the summer we were made to pay . we would have won sunday if we had 15 on board.

just on the team why was paddy rigney dropped and also Brian Watkins is worth his place on that team hurl very well again Antrim pick up an injured that day but was on the bench for last two games. antrim will be hard now but we a bit of luck and right team picked we can get a win.

just looking at other teams laois westmeath and carlow getting hammer in thier games the last two weeks i think we are better off where we are at the moment i fear the beatings we would get up in division 1 .

Honestly I am disappointed with the team especially the full back line. M cleary or a Flynn are only average club players. D Egan is not a full back. J Dempsey can't do shortt accurate Puck outs. P Geraghty is not a centre forward and l Langton at full forward is a joke. S cleary and B murphy are too soft to hurl at county level.
I know the talent is scarce on the ground but If we had c kiely b connelly C doughan and ó kelly at 3 6 11 14 we might have a hope of building a team. There are too many fairies on that team it's a man's game.

I'd be disappointed if someone didn't come to their senses tomorrow and edit this post or perhaps take it down completely.

Ah naming players who shouldnt be on the team/panel is a tad unfair now I agree. I didnt like the team picked but we have to try out players too, against teams in this division, I would imagine the the so called bigger players will be back out against Antrim. Without naming individual players not delivering, we have more than the earlier mentioned "too soft" players not delivering, being a star at club level is one thing, as an example only I will mention say Ben Coneely and be fair to him Cillian Kiely for example are consistent with both club and county, and there are others from other clubs too who perform well for Offaly every day they put on the shirt or most days anyway..other players have huge club names, and havent raised a puff in our two opening games..if your culling from Sundays performance, I would be changing more than my full back line...the scoreboard is all that matters and it is controlled from both ends of the pitch, not just the backs as I say..look at the calibre of returns from other teams and the make up of that return...we have a top scorer with generally well over half of his tally from frees, and the remainder of the scores is pretty thin to be honest...
