Re: What are they smoking in Birr?
Just short of 2,000 paying customers at the Offaly vs Kilkenny U21's in the Walsh Cup in SBP and just over 1,400 at Offaly's biggest league game of the year vs Laois in OCP. That's a 30% drop in attendance if we're going to be sensible and compare attendances between the two venues this year.

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016
Having attended the game Sunday I have to say there was a couple of positives to take from it. Our two corner backs were excellent. We really have two top class performers in Niall Wynne and Paddy Rigney. Although it seems Rigney is practically in with the panel by default as he was dropped and brou...

Re: new offaly constituency?
Looking at the distribution of John Leahy’s voted following his elimination in the 2011 GE, 24% of those went to MCK, but 11% went to Sinn Féin’s Brian Stanley. They are not so ‘transfer repellant’ as they used to be. With Sinn Féin likely to get a ‘party’ vote, a repeat of the 2014 Council results...

Yep, Id say that's the jersey alright. I saw it on sale in Tullamore over the weekend.
Be wary, they are very big fitting. Unless you go for the player fit option on the O'Neills website.

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
Greenairfield,
Do you have any idea what you just said about those hurlers you've just named?
I'd take down that list of names pretty quickly before you get yourself and this site into serious bother.
And since when did Birr and St Rynaghs become lesser clubs?

Re: Walsh Cup 2016
Come on lads, do the maths here. We beat DIT by a cricket-score, DIT beat the Kilkenny Under 21 comfortably, ergo this will be a comfortable win for Offaly. In reality this will be a senior inter-county team vs an U21 inter-county team. And before anyone thinks the Kilkenny U21 team is some sort of ...

Re: Brian Carroll retires
I've heard that management weren't willing to carry Conor Mahon on the panel while he continues his recovery from injury. How accurate this report is I can't clarify. If it is the case it really is really short-sightedness on their behalf. On the captaincy issue James Dempsey seemed to be the captai...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016
As you may have figured by the final score today's game in O'Connor Park was a farce. So here's the team that started and I think that's the only thing of interest from the game. 1. James Dempsey 2. Emmet Nolan 3. Chris McDonald 4. Niall Wynne 9. Shane Kinsella (sweeper) 5. Pat Camon 6. Conor Dougha...

Re: 2016 Championship
3 home league games for Offaly in the hurling league. Games vs Laois and Limerick in OCP, game vs Kerry in SBP. Maybe it's just me but I nearly find that a bigger insult than having no games in SBP. There's no way the attendance of the Laois or Limerick games will come anywhere near 5,000. Just play...

Edenderry swimming pool is right beside Edenderry GAA so they wont be building a pool. And they already have a bar facility and pavilion so that wont be needed either.

Re: What are they smoking in Birr?
Joe, By "all ticket" I mean there will be a set number of tickets set aside for the game and when these are all sold the game is a sell out. No one else is allowed in. OCP employs a ticketing system which is slightly different. From recent reading I was doing its common practice in GAA to ...

Re: What are they smoking in Birr?
I don't think this year's Galway SHC final is a fair comparison with the situation in Offaly at the moment. Pearse Stadium is currently unavailable as they are doing work on the pitch so the situation becomes more similar to our own if both pitches are available next year. Then it'll be very interes...

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
Ah come on POTH, Ken Hogan is only out the road from Birr, has been involved in the Offaly club championship for the last number of years and obviously takes a keen interest in the Offaly SHC as a spectator. For Joe Quaid to travel to Kilcormac from Murroe in Limerick for a league semi it would seem...

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
I will admit this is anecdotal rather than first hand evidence but seemingly Joe Quaid was at the Kinnitty vs Seir Kieran league semi final on Saturday. He has also resigned as Limerick camogie manager.
Is his appointment now a fait accompli?
