Re: What lessons can Offaly learn from Donegal?

its not as simple as that either, Donegal have some of the best footballeres in the country at the moment they were unlucky to lose an all ireland under 21 final to Dublin two years ago Tommy Lyons came in to offaly in the late 90's people say offaly football was on its knees when he came but what ...

Re: What lessons can Offaly learn from Donegal?

How in the name of Christ can Offaly learn anything from Donegal? Lads seriously come on. The gap between the 2 counties is astronomical. Kildare destroyed us. Cork destroyed Kildare. Cork had no answer to Donegal. If we start comparing ourselves to Donegal or in anyway looking to them for lessons ...

Re: McDonnell in running for Offaly football job

I see what your saying Jimbob, The players that were called back in, alright they are good footballers, they are not irreplaceable, even in Offaly. They like many others blow hot and cold. Iv seen Smith for a while now, hes a gifted fielder of the ball, score the odd point but the man has no fight i...

Re: McDonnell in running for Offaly football job

overdoing the whole edenderry thing i think though. while they obviously achieved a lot, it was still only a schools competition and way off what would be demanded at inter county senior level. I would look at that differently. If he was going the extra mile for a school team, and could get young l...

Re: McDonnell in running for Offaly football job

How can we be comparing ourselves with Dublin or Kerry? Thats the problem on the county panels too. Everyone thinks they are better than they are. All these up and coming players think the are the sh!t before any of them have done anything to earn their "stardom". We are on a par with Lond...

Re: Coffey turns down Offaly job

Delamar, welcome on board. No, I am not one of those people you speak about, if you have read any posts up here since you joined you would see that I advise all comers to see what they are willing to do first before they point the finger. I have played every grade of football bar Junior B, a member...

Re: Coffey turns down Offaly job

I would say that Tom was told he aint getting the reins on the u21s as well as the Senior and he decided to walk. Whoever they get as manager is up against it anyway, and the real issue remains with the clubs out there who need to get their house in order. Have to laugh at some of the opinions, DAF...

You would think so but then why was the Junior 'A' football final not played until the 20th of October last year?

Re: Coffey turns down Offaly job

First of all, I have never been to any of those county board meetings but I have often heard that a club delegate speaking up for change on behalf of himself or his club will result in that person ruining his chances for progression up the ladder in the county boards inner circle and/or the club los...

Re: Football Review Committee Survey

I don't mind the handpass. It is fairly democratic - use it badly and you get nowhere. The aimless hoof tennis of the 70s is way overrated and there are a lot of that generation hogging the airwaves trying to romanticise their era. I would be more concerned with trying to eliminate the possibility ...

Re: Coffey turns down Offaly job

Priority number one should be to get young lads wanting to play football again. This I feel would have to come from an outside man. A guy who has been a top player in his time. Although Banty is a good manager, hes not what Offaly need just now. The short term objectives of the new manager should be...

Re: Football Review Committee Survey

I dont mean to be knocking everybodies ideas but if the solutions were so simple as to what is being suggested here I think the changes would have beeen made long ago. That survey is a joke, i didnt bother after the secound page, how can you decide accurately which skill you prefer? i.e. catching, h...
