Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2023

Just on that. Saw recent social media post from Bernard Brogan re where he was forced to share portion of money received from any corporate arrangements with panel at large through putting portion into pot to be shared with all panelists. Not sure how it is now but it was said that being involved in...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2023

Some of the figures on here are well over exaggerated to be fair and I was wrong on my nos earlier. The mileage is 70c per mile and not 75c per km. So taking into account any place in Dublin being approx 80 miles from Kilcormac, it would mean 80 x 2 x 0.7 = 112 euro per training session. There are a...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2023

Its not my view, its a fact that you cannot keep a player in or forbid a player from leaving a county squad. It's a fact because it is allowed. If you change the rules, that changes. If a fella wants to drop off county panel, fine, can still do that; but a rule should be put in place so they can no...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2023

It's an amateur sport, no contracts are signed. They can come and go as they please. Fair enough if that's your view but I'd have very alternative view for good reasons. If I am over a county senior team and have invested in a player over a year or two in terms of fitness development etc and they a...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2023

Should there be a motion for Congress restricting inter county senior panelists from going abroad to play until their county team is out of Tailteann or Sam Maguire cups. Too much expense and money spent on these lads for them to just F off to the states for a few quid when it suits them. With rate ...

Re: Club football championship 2023

There was always players going but now members of that team can command payment to play as they are in demand. I have heard of some Galway seniors and others getting huge money to go out there. Re predictions, find some surprising. My predictions as follows Senior A Champions: Tullamore Relegated: S...

Re: Club football championship 2023

Big games tonight in senior as far as I'm concerned are Clara v Durrow and Bracknagh v Shamrocks. All the other four teams will likely be in at least a quarter final. Likelihood is the losers of the games above are really under the cosh to stay up as they would likely need two results (win or draw) ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2023

You could argue Portarlington and Gracefield is in South Offaly as it is more South than Kilcormac going by the map. Ferbane Doon and Shannonbridge are most definitely North Offaly given their location while an argument could also be made for Cloghan. Kilcormac is probably right on the middle but gi...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2023

Lot of merit in what you say Fairplay. My reading is that we are short at inter county senior on lots of fronts. Some of our bigger more physical players are not skillful enough in rucks and tight situations, or get low enough in rucks, while many of our more skillful players are not physical enough...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2023

Of course there are coaches who are bit behind times in North Offaly but to be fair on North Offaly clubs, just think higher volume of dual players exist in North Offaly and because S&C became considered central and important in terms of football prep at much earlier stage than in hurling, this...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2023

Should look at making Senior B a 10 team competition also like senior, as standard to compete is there at top of inter group I think. Don't think lads should be allowed transfer but I'd love to see a parish team or combination team of say for example, South East Offaly or North Offaly where likes of...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2023

 Might be doing similar or same with much lesser calibre of player. Can't argue that our crop of 22-33 year olds are on par with likes of Dublin Wexford hurlers. Our minor and u21 results for last 15 years tell us that. The standard of senior club hurling is about level of intermediate in Gal...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2023

To emphasize the point, I can see where this notion could be misconstrued given challenges this time of year. This time last year I was involved with a Galway senior club around this time of year. Galway seniors were in a semi final and the club team was probably an 8-12th ranked team in Galway. The...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2023

I'd love to know the teams you are referring to and the so called top teams they are playing in other counties baring in mind these Offaly teams have all their Co players against the bigger counties club teams who are currently playing challenges without their best players. Not having any laugh at a...
