Re: Brian Carroll retires

Great hurler, super skill , speed, score taker , free taker . He arrived on the scene at the rail wrong time , he was for me the best forward Offaly have had for the past 10 years and he will be badly missed . Enjoy your county retirement Brian but I will look forward to watching you play for Coold...

Re: Club Championships 2016

As we enter 2016, I think it will dawn on many hurling clubs that the proposed Hurling Championship structure in Offaly will not be in the best interests of club hurling players. Club training will start soon as a first round is likely in mid April with a second round three months later in mid July...

Re: Dubs in Kilkenny for Football?

I'm always conscious of the distinction here between county board officials and players, who have a very different brief in situations like this. The job of the county board is to advocate for their team and their county generally, and I'd have no problem with a chairman or a secretary putting it o...

Re: Leinster Club Championship

A new place for Oulart to find themselves in, having reached Leinster’s final without having beaten the Kilkenny champions (as they did in 2011, 2012 & 2013), and they are not coming in to the final on the crest of a wave. Quite the opposite, in fact, as they were little short of deplorable aga...

Re: Dubs in Kilkenny for Football?

Seating capacity decided it , as reported in the media. All of Dublin's subsequent games will be in Dublin. Offaly played a football game v Kildare , and replay in 2002. I never found any problem in Kilkenny, we didn't win much there, not the fault of the venue.

Re: 2016 Championship

Excellent article JimBob. We have to get over this notion of South v North. I am from North Offaly and always support Offaly hurling regardless, I don't see any division if you are following Offaly. My own club Claodiagh Gaels have made big strides, and Na Fianna have won this year'sminor title, alo...

Re: Leinster Club Championship

Also.....Does anyone know because Coolderry have home advantage, do they or did they get to choose where the game is played? Or is this governed by the county board when the draw was originally made? Could this game have been played in Birr instead of Tullamore? Just a question, not trying to stir ...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015

To me coolderry and kk, both playing to their potental would be a great final and i think both have hurled to a much higher level than this rynagh team over the last 6 years . it annoys me to hear people say that if rynaghs or birr won it would be better for the county . Kilcormac/Killoughey gave a...

Re: 2015 SFC Final - Edenderry vs. Rhode 11/10/15

Poor display from Edenderry against a poor rathnew side. If Rhode were playing today they would win pulling up , don't know what happened Rhode in the county final but there's no way Rathnew would beat them. Edenderry yet again were relying on kicking high ball into high tower at full forward and i...
