Re: Football plan, Whats the story?
That's very disappointing to hear. I thought with a director of hurling appointed that offaly might move in the right direction. But from what I can gather there are simply not enough quality people within the county to put a plan together and get hurling and football on the right road to success.

Re: Football plan, Whats the story?
Is there even a hurling plan. Other than talk and a document released, what has actually happened? As far as I'm aware the development squads aren't even up and running. I stand to be corrected on this. Offaly in every regard both at club and county are way behind a lot of the counties they hope to ...

Re: 2017 Walsh Cup
Think offaly minors this year are good. Could potentially make a leinster final. But it's a tricky grade and young lads can just have an off day and your gone. In regards to u 21s contesting last year's leinster final, they were on the soft side of the draw avoiding the 3 best teams at under 21 leve...

Re: Offaly hurling manager??
Offaly really are at a all time low. Years of neglect of the development of future hurlers is really coming home to roost. It will be a long time before offaly make any sort of an impact in any compitition at County level. A lot of people within the county really have been asleep at the wheel when i...

Re: Walsh Cup
It's hard to know in regards to tradition and the effect it has on players. Recent success and tradition, say 10 years ago might have some sway or influence. But going back to the 80s, I'd wonder. My own club contested a final in 1984. It brought up at training as something to take inspiration from....

Re: New Job Advertised
Not 100% sure, but I think it's replacing the county games manager. A lot of responsibility going by the job description. Not simple.

Re: Offaly hurling manager??
Just shows how pissed of kelly was with offaly set up. Players too hard to deal with. Don't know what he is thinking going to laois. Just as difficult to handle and less quality players. Mad stuff to be honest.

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
For the second in a row the offaly champions have been will beat in the leinster championship. Shows what Senior county mgt have to work with. Offaly hurling is on a par with laois and westmeath. No more no less.. See the offaly intermediate champion s lost to the meath champions.

Thanks for that. Did not realise you had to win the grade to go up a grade. So if clodagh gaels when the all Ireland, offaly play intermediate the following year?,

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
Just wondering, why do the offaly intermediate club champions hurl Junior leinster? Very unfair I feel on out and out Junior teams. Clodiagh gaels are playing Rathoath and from my experience playing Rathoath this could be a massive win for Clodiagh gaels. Last year was the same with lusmagh beating ...

Re: Why do we not have a senior hurling manager appointed?
Pure speculation on my behalf. But with recent steppung down of a club manager in offaly, I get the feeling that offaly mgt next year will have a very distinct western feel to it.

Maybe they can't get anyone to take it. I'd love to know the real reasons E Kelly left.

Re: New Offaly Management/Panel Members for 2017
Davy is ultra professional. No room for lads who don't toe the line. Sean Ryan said that the most professional set up he has been in was the 2016 one under kelly. Its Davy way or no way. Be a very interesting watch though!!
