Re: What are they smoking in Birr?

Surely at this stage most clubs have yearly and 3 year coaching plans in place with skills targets for each age group, short term and long term plans, upskilling of coaches etc.

Re: What are they smoking in Birr?

the talent is always there in every area. you have to go out and find them, nurture them, develop them and look after them (most importantly). I think enough clubs don't do that they'd rather spend money on an outside trainer for their seniors than invest resources (people and money) in the future o...

Re: Administrator

In most successful and well run voluntary organisations, the committees who come up with ideas and suggestions usually have a full time person to implement those ideas - finance, promotion, budgeting etc

Re: Administrator

this position is basically a glorified secretary. that is not what is needed in the county They should minimally have graphic design and web design skills. What about giving the administrator a success based contract based on growing the county board's revenue? from advertising, match ticket sales, ...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State

Put a plan together and submit it to Leinster Council and Central Council.

If funding is refused, then you can talk about the haves and have nots.

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State

More full time coaching staff means you are firstly able to support the work going on in clubs - running more blitzes, coaching demos, training courses and general upskilling of everything done at underage and adult level. Get more coaching hours into schools both primary and secondary. This is a hu...

Re: Strength And Conditioning

Just on this general topic

I know that informal talks have been held with a very capable S&C coach and a facility with a view to winter training for county adult squads and also upskilling coaches with some S&C skills.

I think you'll find clubs in Roscommon were given a number to aim for, depending on the membership size of the club. anything above that they then got money back to the club Tyrone have a serious fundraising arm - Club Tyrone. If anyone ever wants to be wowed by a GAA facility, go up and visit their...

Re: What are they smoking in Birr?

I looked on with utter disbelief when I read in the paper that Birr GAA club are fundraising again with their " Monster Draw" to raise funds for the continued development of St. Brendan's Park. Are these people stupid? Birr hurling is much similar to Offaly hurling nearly dead and buried ...
