Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

lets hope the shiny new training fields covers up the fact that a lot of clubs are not doing enough coaching or developing of all players
go to any under 12 or U10 game and 1/2 players dominate with pitches being very narrow and full solo allowed at U12

Re: A chance for atonement - Westmeath v Offaly, Leinster SH

Westmeath lost that game on the line - they had no cover for their corner back getting injured, too slow to make changes, persisting with a dodgy keeper
Fair play to the Offaly lads who grabbed the game and got the job done

Re: A chance for atonement - Westmeath v Offaly, Leinster SH

however if you look at Westmeath teams from minor down to U14 for the last few years they seem to have slipped back behind Meath again at underage hurling
hurling in Meath is improving no end, driven on by the clubs in bigger towns eg Trim, Ratoath and Dunshaughlin

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

The days of Offaly, or other small counties, competing for minor or under 21 honours are probable gone. The advancement of team preparation, budgets, S&C and the rest increases the odds of a small county getting enough good players to beat,or compete with the bigger counties is now more or less...

Re: A chance for atonement - Westmeath v Offaly, Leinster SH

Westmeath are progressing/building all year
3rd year syndrome for the manager Michael Ryan
lost to Carlow first day out in the league but won every game after that

the discipline seems to be a big issue in every game and I don't think they have replaced Murtagh at FF or CHF.

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

Galway should not be allowed to enter basically half their minor squad!

I thought it was meant to be for U17s not getting on the minor squad? or not getting game time with the minor squad?

An Edenderry man?
The club that killed hurling in the town?
Brought over age players to underage competitions all over Leinster and beyond?

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016

A simple solution for the gates at club grounds, is that the county board send one person to monitor the gates - they bring tokens/tickets which are given out to each adult entering who pays in, and then have that same person inside the gate with a clicker to count adults entering the ground. if the...

Owens has been asked to stay on by Westmeath county board.
Not sure if the clubs up there want him again though.

Re: Offaly v Laois LSHC Quarter-final, Sunday 5th June

Great win

Bit of a joke that Westmeath's reward for topping the group was a trimming from Galway while Offaly got a Laois team who are struggling
