Rhode 0-13 Ferbane 0-8

No shortage of past achievement or pride in the club in either of these two sides, but as for which club is currently in the ascendancy, there can certainly be no doubt. Though it pains me to say it, my take on yesterday’s game was that this was a Rhode team operating at about 70% capacity, with the...

Ballycumber - Erin Rovers report

(I'll have other reports, but this was my "commissioned" effort and as such was done up first!) Schizophrenic Ballycumber do enough to win Ballycumber 0-13 Erin Rovers 0-8 Supporters in Ferbane last Sunday evening saw two very different sides to Ballycumber as they got 2005 off to a good s...

Losing to Carlow.

To be fair, we're too far gone if we start making excuses for this. I don't care how much Carlow have come on, this game should have been won with 10 points to spare. Now I'll acknowledge that I was at club games at home all day, so I didn't see the game, but if the players can't grasp how important...

I can see it now....

... bands of Dolph Lundgren-like minor teams marching onto the field in formation. By the time they graduate to senior they'll have a grizzled Jean Claude Van Damme quality about them. Actually come to think of it the guy that got in all the trouble for his "coaching techniques" with the S...

I'm not sure

I couldn't tell you, except that it's on the two games where one of the teams will have played the previous weekend (Raheen in the intermediate and Ballycumber seniors). So maybe it's something along the lines of IF clubs don't sustain injuries or are happy to play again?

I'm guessing though.

The Aftermath

Didn't get around to this yesterday, so apologies for the sluggishness. It's a rare thing, but I do genuinely believe we saw a very disinterested Offaly yesterday. I've seen teams play badly before, but Offaly yesterday as a rule stood off, and didn't bust themselves nearly enough to try and pick up...

Subs

I'm a big fan of Mulhall, but I would like to have seen him be given a game in the league at some stage. His ability to kick points is not really the issue, but his ability to move three yards to get the ball is unproven as of yet. But certainly if we felt the need to throw someone in on the edge of...

Subs

This has come up in a few threads - I'm quite concerned to be honest. I think in terms of replacements/cover, the cupboard is pretty bare. We'd be okay in goals, or around the middle of the park, but for 2-4 or 14 & 15 we'd struggle, and even though I wouldn't pass too much remarks on Sunday's r...

Shamrocks vs Tullamore 6.45pm Saturday, Mucklagh This clash between two sides that would each harbour serious ambitions of Dowling Cup success should tell a lot about the strengths and weaknesses of each side and how they are shaping up for the coming year.
