Re: Minors hurlers 2022
5-6000 be a big crowd, I’d have thought. So interesting that 7 of the squad are doing their junior cert. you see the county jersey and the big crowd the last day and forget that they are kids. It really is a developmental age. Generally what happens in the next 5 years is what will determine their s...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2022
Not sure I follow your logic about tailteann cup and the difference between the hurling tiers, Plain. In my opinion, it most definitely is championship, in the same way that Joe Mc and Christy ring is also championship in hurling. Thank you for the endless hours you have put into what is a fantastic...

Re: Minors hurlers 2022
Anyone have a link or could explain to the format for the remainder of the competition? Offaly into the semis with Tipp. 3 team group to decides who else gets there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_All-Ireland_Minor_Hurling_Championship Thank you. That wiki page is fantastic. Really well laid ou...

Re: Minors hurlers 2022
Anyone have a link or could explain to the format for the remainder of the competition? Well done to all involved. For me the most important thing is that it gives everyone in the county incentive to drive on that little bit more - kids in the county now have their first ever experience of seeing Of...

Re: Minors hurlers 2022
Really nice to be looking forward to a hurling provincial final where we have a 50/50 chance of prevailing. It has been a while. Nice to see a good spread of clubs involved, with obvious special mention to K/K with 6 starters, which is phenomenal. They really are driving the standards at club level....

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2022
I listened to John Maughan's post match interview on Radio 3 with Brian Gavin and it was fair to say that it wouldn't inspire you with much confidence for the remainder of the season. The general gist was - injuries left us too thin on the ground, didn't have a focal point in attack, defense drifted...

Re: National Foothall league Div 2 predictions
Offaly did not choose to hold back and not kick on in the second half last week. They were simply not able to kick on. Roscommon are a far superior side to Offaly. Will require a big performance next week to beat Cork. Not impossible but they are probably slight favourites.

Re: Club Camogie Question
I assume that the rule is 'if a club from a particular county wins 2 All-Irelands then that county's representative will be up to senior the following year'. This definitely makes sense as you don't want a county hanging around intermediate winning it every year but refusing to go up. Also, you don'...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022
We should demand a replay in thurles next Saturday afternoon. That first Clare goal was the most blatant square ball seen in OCP since, well, Saturday. The corner forward was practically leaning on the post when the ball was hit in initially. Definitely should have been a free out. We were ahead at ...

Re: Huring back in Birr
This was a Cork team operating in third gear, if they didn't think they were the Harlem Globetrotters at times, they would have crucified us altogether. Thank god the pitch cut up so bad, can you imagine playing them in Pairc Ui Chaoimh or Tullamore. Offaly were so tactically naive it was scary, pl...

Re: Huring back in Birr
Just me or is the field cutting up something shocking? Looks like every time someone turns quickly they a big sod of turf moves under their feet. Not having a go, just asking.

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022
The turnover of players stat that Plain pointed out is such a big one. Seems we are Forever in the same boat of starting from a low level of experience. We really need to be backboned by 10 Lads with 5+ years of Inter county consistency. The only way to get it is through sticking with it - the manag...

Re: Club Camogie Question
Think that is 4 in a row now, which is fair going. Definitely a huge shame that they are not up at senior level. Absolutely no reason why they shouldn’t be senior already or certainly next year, even if they don’t win the All Ireland again.
Congrats and best of luck for semi final.

Re: Club Camogie Question
Interesting. Thanks for that. Some high bar just to get promoted. Win an all-Ireland 2 years on the trot. By the time you have that done, your team are probably gone off the boil a little, as it if very hard to ask a club to do that year in year out.
