I think this might be decided on Sunday. Like all neutrals, I hope Galway can pull it off, but I have a feeling Kilkenny might get there. Hope I'm wrongToxicity234 wrote:All Ireland Hurling Final.

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
30 matches, yes, jeez where was I going with 60. :) For me, there is too many meaningless matches played at league pace. I only went to one of my clubs matches so far because I knew they'd reach q/f handy enough and I knew there would be nothing to read into the group matches of where they're at. P...

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
Can't be upset with this appointment. Let hope it was done the right way now and that everybody interested in the job was given a chance to make a case for getting the job. Kelly an interesting one and a person Liam Sheedy would know well. he was involved with Tipp underage team around the time She...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
Great info there Poth and Searing . You're welcome, I forgot our neighbours Killoughey in the previous post. POTH filled in the blanks about Edenderry, they contested a semi final in their Senior days, I think! Interesting post war effect in Clara, re the emergence of football there, neutrality pai...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
Some achievement to reach the final in their first year , just goes to show that there are and were good hurlers both ends of the county . It would be interesting to know when was the last time there was a senior hurling team in the so called non traditional end of the county for hurling ? I know E...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
I was at the game, and Clodiagh Gaels' first goal hit the staunchion at the back of the net, and rebounded to a CG player who made sure. Drumcullen will wonder how they lost, 7 points up in first half, but the Gaels hauled them in, and were unlucky to go in a point down at half time, 0-10 to 1-6. D...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
I was in O'Connor Park for Drumcullen vs Clodiagh Gaels. I'm bias here as a Drumcullen man. The games was a ok match. Drumcullen pick off some lovely points early and raced into a 0-8 to 0-2 lead and were in control from the first 15 mins. Then Clodaigh kicked into gear and scored 1-3 or 1-4 withou...

Re: Brian Gavin
This whole affair has a deja vu feeling to it. It reminds me of the movie LA Confidential which had a spookily similar cast and characters - Ed Exley (Guy Pearce), Bud White (Russell Crowe), Capt. Dudley Smith (James Cromwell), Sid Hudgens (Danny DeVito), Det. Sgt. Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey). Ed...

Re: Origins of Offaly colours
Hi PITJ Interesting idea about the origins of county jerseys. I heard a rumour that Clara were the first club affiliated post the founding of the GAA in 1884. Because of this Offaly, or King's County as the county was called then were allowed wear the national colours. I am not sure that is correct,...

Re: Brian Gavin
Sorry to hear about Brian's uncle passing away. Most posters would have been unaware of this bereavement, and would sympathise with the Gavin family. I agree Brian Gavin had a good balanced game yesterday. He is a top referee. The real issue most people have, is the alleged post match abuse to a fell...

Re: Shane Lowry - Official topic
Well done to Shane, huge win for him and his family! Not a huge golf fan meself but we were glued to it last night and some of his shots under pressure were unbelievable. Serious amount of goodwill towards him across the sporting fraternity, and he appears to be as popular outside the county as ins...

Re: Brian Gavin
So the Offaly Competitions Control commitee (CCC) were going to give Brian a one months ban for comments made about Padraig Pierce during a Clara Kilclonfert game. This would have put him out of refereeing the semi final this weekend until Croke Park cleared him. It is not like Offaly have that man...

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
I think his input will be worthwhile. He had in place a successful setup with himself as manager and Eamon O'Shea as coach and would understand the dynamic needed. He was in charge of a high performing unit and you'd expect he'd spot candidates who would best meet this end for Offaly. I know candid...

Re: New Minor & Senior Hurling Management
Joe Quaid would be a surprise, especially given that it is apparently happening so quickly after the vacancy opened. Normally there is a bit of lead in time where names gets bandied about, the various PR machines whir into life, rumour mills crank up and dogs on the street bark out the updates. Wou...
