Sit in the stand and risk being in with the Kilkenny crowd...who'll be telling you "stay quiet", "sit down" anytime you raise a cheer.
You'll feel like a right caged animal then!

The stand is for sitting with your family and being civilised. :)
The new Hill is a good improvment on the old one.
The elevation is much better - Notice how you can't see the old railway wall any more.

Re: 1980

I always love games like this though. You expect to lose, but maybe, just maybe................. Some of our best results performances have been on days when no one has bothered to turn up. - 1980 obviously! - In 1998 very few Offaly people travelled for the first Clare game - only for Jimmy Cooney...

I think there is slight cause to be hopeful. In the late 90s, early 00s we shipped heavy defeats to Kilkenny for a number of reasons. - Primarily as payback for the humiliation of '95 and the '98 All Ireland defeat. - Most of the Offaly players were bringing down the curtain on great careers, so und...

A rookie ref would probably suit Kilkenny. He might baulk at sending off players and Kilkenny's high hits might go unpunished. Look at the way Cody intimidated Diarmuid Kirwan last summer when Kilkenny decided to lower the blades and sledge Galway. Though maybe Haverty will remember this and be symp...

Excellent analysis. I would be a little worried about Breeder's puckouts. Since he lacks the bit of power, he has to put a fair bit of elevation on them to clear midfield. This never suits the forwards waiting underneath the slow dropping ball. Fitzhenry, Donal Og etc are masters of the quick puckou...

McIntyre fears Kilkenny backlash

Offaly manager McIntyre fears Kilkenny backlash OFFALY hurling manager John McIntyre harbours fears that his young side could feel the full force of a Kilkenny backlash on Sunday. McIntyre senses the source of the backlash could be the Leinster semi-final defeat last year to Wexford that Kilkenny u...

What's the verdict on the selection? Personally I'm glad that Sid is being held back as a possible impact sub and that John McIntyre has kept faith with the lads who have been there all year. Even if the intention was to start Sid, it's unlikely they'd announce it on the team released to the press....

Pretty much what I'd hoped for. Oakley at full back is the kind of strength we need against Kilkenny. A big half forward line to try and contend with Kilkenny's high catching half back line. Hayden would be more robust than Parlon, who needs to fill out a bit more. Maybe more muscle at midfield woul...

Taken from the Waterford new: WATERFORD LOSE TO OFFALY The blank hurling fixture list saw the Waterford squad availing of the opportunity to combine a weekend break in Killarney with a full blooded challenge against Offaly in the empty but wide expanse of Fitzgerald Stadium. Offaly, of course, are p...
