Junior

Ye are indeed - I read something about Kieran's meeting good Counsel next, so using my savage powers of deduction.... The younger brother was playing in that junior match - they never had a chance. The lads playing with the senior were training, but the ones not at that level hadn't been since Chris...

AWOL

I've some excuse - I was entertaining an "associate" from Roscommon. Bad enough she was being brought to a football match in Tralee as a romantic Valentine's Weekend getaway without making her stand in the rain as well. That nightclub is some savage spot. A man would be back there given th...

Very good all right.

Should be a good bit of craic now at that "Local Derby" semi final. You'd have to fancy Birr based on results so far, but local games have a tendency to change things a little. One way or another you'd say only Birr would have a chance of taking Kieran's in the final. I'd love to be on her...

I hope so.

You'd hope the league would blow away the fear at least. That's still the biggest barrier for our underage sides as far as I can see.

Any idea how many of that Cistercian side are Offaly? That was a fine display from them last week.

Offaly Team

While I can respect the wish not to change a winning team, I do think a little bit of experimentation would be no harm in the league. You don't want to get to the summer and be bringing in lads from the cold - I'd prefer to see a few others that might be needed get a run. Certainly if Niall Mac is e...

Has anyone been to Austin Stack park before?

It's time for the Shark crew to talk tactics. We need to make sure everyone can find us when we get down there - I'm trusting not everyone will be shy and stay away from us like the last time... So what's the layout of the ground - is one side of the ground terraced, or would we have to go in...

Subs

I don't agree with this. Last year you were allowed use five subs in a game, and most teams did at some stage, as they timewasted like good-oh protecting a two point lead in the last ten minutes. This year you can use six - it's not exactly a sea change. Anyway, a good player on the brink of the sen...

Tis Worrying.

It's actually the biggest problem for now is that we are working with a generation of hurlers who have never known any result against Kilkenny at any level except a hammering. We've still been the second best underage team in Leinster over the last 5 years or so, but for some reason while Dublin and...

The first revision

Revising this for the first time, and obviously considerable deference has to be given to a good display yesterday. So as of now..... 1 McNamara 2 Sullivan 3 Evans 4 Brady (Did well at corner back, but you'd worry about him up against a faster corner forward. Could easily have been carded just befor...

I'll be honest, I can't say I'm hugely sympathetic. People seem to keep forgetting that a sin binning is supposed to be a punishment. If it hurts down the line as well - good! We're supposedly cracking down on foul play, but you can't tell me Dublin didn't benefit from Stephen Cluxton pulling down t...

Offaly vs Meath minor League

(Played saturday - apologies for the local paper esque spiel) After a good performance last week in Rosemount, where only a late 45 denied this Offaly minor team a win over Westmeath, they took the field yesterday in Walsh Island looking to build on that performance and get their first win in this L...

Re:

It really is very sad for all concerned, in particular Ann, who had moved down and set up business down here.

I'd say this will touch a huge amount of people, so known and liked was the man.

Rest in Peace.

Walsh Cup Match

Huge game all right. Should be able to make it, but we have to allow enough time to get to bigger occasions in plenty of time later. :D Tis a long time since we've beaten the wasps in any game. You would imagine that a game like this where they have just struggled to get by the Jackeens would be an ...
