Re: O'Connor Park lease debacle
I think OMP was sold to Laois GAA, but I could be wrong. The ownership of Dr. Hyde Park is similarly messy, and there would be plenty of people in Roscommon who would have made the same argument, that the home club (Roscommon Gaels) should have been told to take a running jump. There is a slight dif...

Re: O'Connor Park lease debacle
There's no doubt this needs to be addressed, and quickly. Now obviously there may be details that aren't in the public domain, but there seems to be plenty of good, detailed information out there and based on that, there isn't a lot of debate on where things stand legally. A ground was leased from T...

As a man I'd have a fair bit of time for wrote on another forum not unlike this one....substandard wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:15 pm Dammit, Lone Shark, way too much information- thought you were one of us, like!!
If it was any of 30 other counties, I'd be rooting for them, but no sentiment Sunday!!

Re: Offaly u20 2021
Looking forward to when the conversations revert back to the game- same with the Rossie forum!! Like most on here, I watched the Roscommon semi final on tv. It was in stark contrast to our game in that it was a wet evening and harder to judge as we played our semi in perfect conditions. Probably ju...

Re: Offaly u20 2021
Not that I'm aware of, but there was never a situation before where there wasn't plenty of other options to house a crowd of 15 or 20 thousand. It’s an interesting one alright, I guess another question would be does the 24,000 still stand for the U20’s alone? The reason it was 24,000 in the first p...

Re: Offaly u20 2021
It's nothing to do with underestimating Roscommon at all. I've been at all their games, I know the team well, I know what they can do. This is purely about the mood in the county(s), nothing to do with the ability of the players on the field. The difference between this and 2012 and 2014 is that the...

Re: Offaly u20 2021
It's genuinely hard to know. Why certain games are singled out for larger attendances and others aren't, has not at all been properly explained. I'd say, like most decisions these days, it's political. If there's huge demand and a fuss will be kicked up if that demand isn't met, then the 1/3 guideli...

Re: Offaly u20 2021
I'm struggling to see what reason they would have to take it out of Croke Park, even in the event that Tyrone vs Kerry is postponed. The capacity right now would be around 24,000 - I'd fully expect that to be filled, notwithstanding the awkwardness of pods etc. This is the biggest game that either c...

Re: Offaly u20 2021
In most clubs, "the same few at the top" are the members of the executive, the volunteer coaches, the parks and pitch volunteers, the lotto ticket sellers etc. I now live in Roscommon and in the club where I'm a member, that's how it's done - there is a list of active people who are volunt...

Re: Offaly u20 2021
I see the Ladies Senior semi finals have been set for the 14th. Given that TG4 have the rights to those, I'd say chances are they'll want the u20 final on the 15th,to spread out their broadcasting. They'll have the u20 Hurling to accommodate too of course.

Re: Offaly u20 2021
I'm not saying for a second that I think it should be in Croke Park as part of a double header, but that's the plan from what I can tell. Plans change, of course.

Re: Offaly u20 2021
The likelihood is that the final will be in Croke Park before one of the two semi-finals, which is Mayo vs Dublin (Saturday the 14th, 6pm) and Tyrone vs Kerry (Sunday the 15th, 3.30pm). I'm not sure what the criteria will be for deciding which game. If it's Offaly vs Roscommon, they might say that t...

Re: Offaly vs Louth 2021 Leinster Football Championship
A gritty performance by Offaly. The guys stood up in the heat of battle. The crazy decision to play a league final last weekend nearly cost us and it will make things very difficult next weekend, after having to play extra time and being out four weekends in a row. Still there is a lot to be proud ...
