Re: Har Donnelly R.I.P.

Yes, Har did attend the Tech in Athlone and played for Westmeath Vocational School team. He would have joined the Air Corps at age 15/16. I have seen somewhere that he played Minor for Westmeath but cannot confirm. The Air Corps team, he & Charlie Wren played on reached a few Dublin Finals. The one...

Re: Har Donnelly R.I.P.

where was Har from and what school did he attend to play for Westmeath Voc school? Who was the Tubber man? Har Donnelly was from Kilcormac. His family later moved to Athlone, and Har probably attended Athlone Vocational School. Har was approached by someone in Offaly GAA, to declare for Offaly, as ...

They sure did. They conceded 4-17, 4-29, 7-24, 5-24 and 3-29 in their 5 games and lost their games on average by 24.4 points.
Tough watching those games.

Re: Offaly SHC 2021

I think Drumcullen who would of been underdogs would be well off 3 or 4 clubs in Offaly and get some big defeats. There is a big gap in standards between Senior B and the A championship. Teams relegated to the B championship, and later promoted, have a better chance of staying up, than teams promot...

looks a strange move to me. getting a guy who worked underage a good few years ago.schools underage to a "top" club is a huge jump. was there no one more suitable ?.
Ferbane must have done their research before, appointing Declan Cryan as SF manager.

Re: Offaly SHC 2021

Do lads here think we will have leagues ? Or just championship? If I had a choice it would be championship, but others may differ. Nationally I would cancel NFL/NHL for this year, and run with championships. Any championships will probably be delayed until, the COVID situation improves, and the vac...

Re: Club Managements

Declan Cryan is Ferbane SF manager for 2021. Declan is from Portarlington, and played football for Laois.
He is a teacher in Rathangan, and previously managed Maynooth to the Kildare and Leinster Intermediate Football titles in 2009. Report in this week’s Tullamore Tribune.

Re: Offaly SHC 2021

I agree with your desire to run off the championships in a short time frame, without quarter finals, weather and COVID rules permitting of course. I thought the championships went pretty well last year, even if we are still waiting for the conclusion of the 2020 hurling championships.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

Only getting around to this query now. While Offaly and Westmeath share a lengthy boundary, the countys' respective traditional hurling areas don't border each other. Though in fairness, that might be changing now with Ballinamere-Durrow making a significant contribution. Westmeath's traditional hu...

Re: Minor Football

Does anyone know if the minor football and hurling finals are affected by the latest in the series of lockdowns? I think the finals will be cancelled because of the lockdown. It’s a pity after after so much progress at minor level. We will definitely know in the next few days. I hope 2021 is better...

Re: Club Managements

a cop or two on the Belmont squad probably opened up the door for Baker as he is guard in Tullamore, interesting to see how he does with Belmont, they have gone back a little on the form which almost got them over the line the last few years, be it this years championship was stop/start etc..proble...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

Offaly and Westmeath playing a Leinster MHC semi final in Mullingar. Closest Midlands Radio 3 are to covering it is playing the song Teenage Dirtbag on the radio. No joke. Poor. I noticed this in recent times (probably from lock down and trying to clutch onto something live going on around the plac...

Re: Minor Football

Super win today. It's a long time since I saw an Offaly team play with such passion and assurance. A very balanced team that is strong in all sectors, with some outstanding individuals. Still a lot to work on, such as shit selection. They can build on this and bring home a Leinster title. I’d say y...
