Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016
Fair play to you Jimbob that is a very important post – it should be stuck at the top of every hurling related forum on this site. I would copy and paste it to any outsider who wanted to know the real picture behind our continuing slide. Anything I say here is not to take from the important work bei...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016
"Two good players that should be put in direct competition for the full forward position and let them push each other to keep the position" Yes in an ideal world. The last 'out and out' 14 Offaly had was Padraig Horan. The position was a revolving door through the 90's and with the fall of...

Re: Brian Carroll retires
"p molloy hurled in a different time where none of todays guys would have last 5 minutes" The all Ireland gold series on TG4 was great for putting paid to this kind of manure which auld lads love to spurt. Thats not to take at all from paddy molloy who I never saw but heard plenty about.

Re: Brian Carroll retires
A very honourable statement befitting the man and his selfless contribution to Offaly hurling. I recall the hushed tones which heralded his coming of age at minor as a son of Pat. Arguably no OY hurler before him came with such a burden of expectation. In my view he delivered on that expectation and...

Re: Leinster Club Championship
Personally I think rucks involving over 4 players should be done away with. They don’t suit a game were a small ball is on the ground and players are expected to take possession using a stick (with 6 players either falling in on top of him or careering in on him). It’s especially irritating to watch...

"The bit I take issue with was deeming the '82 final as 'not a classic' and the first half as a 'torrid affair'. I had to listen back to make sure I was not hearing things! The first half of that match was as good football as ever played in any final in Croke Park" Nail on the head there! ...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
Good post Rodgie and your summary of the pivotal switch at the end of the game is bang on from what I saw. A hard one to take for Ryanaghs it seemed that they may have peaked that bit too soon at the semi. I would be a fan of Franny Forde and I don't expect that he would have left much to chance in ...

Townman,
Can I ask you two questions?
1. What age are you?
2. Where are you from in Offaly (originally)?
I'm intrigued …

Re: What are they smoking in Birr?
“i have played for Offaly“… in other counties this is a would be a statement for others to stand up and listen, in OY its arguably (so not judging you Kiep) the clarion call of someone who has been taken in by the vice-like grip of the ‘culture’ (thank you Mr. Plunkett). So to rob a line from Prof S...

Finally some balanced appraisal of the situation– thanks for that LS. It must be stated firstly – fair play to anyone who comes onto sites like this using their own name – especially the likes of you LS who clearly knows all involved in the situation personally. My own view on this is that the net o...

Re: Brian Gavin
I feel none the wiser after reading that article which I find a bit difficult to follow. Words like ‘On Monday’, ‘got off’ and ‘fighting the case’ have a tabloidy ring to them. “…..Pauric Pierce confirmed that he didn't hear any comments made about his health” – was this confirmation delivered by PP...
