Re: Life, Death & Hurling, The Michael Duignan Story
Have to say, that if you asked me if I would like to read a book about Michael Duignan, my first reaction would be to decline. However, if you asked me to read a book about Doora/Barefield in Clare, I would also decline that one too - and would have missed out on a great read. It really depends on h...

Re: Junior A Football
You're going to have to change your name now "LostInJuniorA" - any thoughts? Cappincur seem to be very popular winners of the final on the weekend. I read a lot all week about them being neighbours, etc. but in my head I could't really see where Daingean and Cappincur would have a shared b...

Re: new football manager
from reading the report in the Indo, it is hard not to get the same impression as BracknaghBoy about the candidates. However, what they say to the media and what is actually the situation are usually 2 different things, so I wouldn't take the article as the ultimate guide to the full situation. Am I...

Re: Leinster club Championships
I believe that you are completely wrong about the reasons why that game was not played against WI that time. I remember it was discussed at length at the time and the general word was that it was for a host of reasons why the fixture was not fulfilled, but protecting a junior b team was not the reas...

Re: Leinster club Championships
I understand your points LS, and the example of Ger Raff with Rynaghs. They are doing nothing wrong there at all and he is fully entitled to play junior hurling, as you point out. However, I still dont see what your argument is why they shouldn't be allowed to represent Offaly. If they win the count...

Re: new football manager
Personally, I'd love to hear something from the County Board on the matter. I am willing to wait to hear their side of things, before deciding how to react to the whole situation. However, the longer they leave it without any comment the longer they leave the door open for speculation and the shorte...

Re: Leinster club Championships
LS, on point number 1, I don't believe that either of your arguements hold much water. You stated: "Not every county lets second string teams play with first strings of smaller clubs - more commonly they have "reserve championships" that run side by side." What does that matter? ...

Leinster club Championships
Wanted to get people's opinions on a couple of points in relation to the club championships. 1. What is your opinion on a clubs 2nd or 3rd team not being allowed to represent the county, if they win their grade? 2. What is your opinion on non-clubs (amalgamations - eg: south kerry) being not allowed...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
Congratulations to Coolderry. It is a great achievement to win the title back to back, and there will be no sweeter victory for them than beating the team that had beaten them in so many big games down the years. The spine of their team are all around the same age (late 20s) and have the capability ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
I remember asking Townman if Brian was on the panel this year, earlier in the championship and was told that he wasn't involved at all, so i don't see how they could dress it up as anything other than giving a great hurler one more record to his name. (actually, i do see how it could be dressed up a...

Re: new football manager
I see this on twitter: "Darby follows Jack Sheedy and Tom Coffey in withdrawing from the race to replace Tom Cribbin" The only thing that i can think of is that they all have heard that someone else is being lined up for the role and rather than been beaten to the position, they have decid...

Re: new football manager
I listened to the interview with Niall Mc Namee on Radio 3 and he stated very clearly that as long as the county board people 'at the top' are still in place that he is not going to play with Offaly anymore. In that case, where to from here? Do the players join their captain and not play until the c...

Re: new football manager
Anyone know if there is something else going on here that we dont know about? I would hardly call a 2 week period between interview and decision as a reason for pulling out of the race. In fairness, I am sure the selection committee are going through their own internal process which may involve seve...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
Wow, that is some stat to say that birr have only been beaten 4 times in 10 years in championship hurling. It shows their consistency and ability to deal with the favorites tag very well. It also further highlights the achievement of tullamore to beat them in back to back knock out games. Final shou...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
2) Can someone really tell me that this isnt a political decision?? In the next few days his 2 'Offaly' selectors will be revealed. Any bets on at least one being from the Brewery Tap brigade which are often mentioned on this forum? Way I see it is that the power must at all costs be kept in Tullam...
