Re: Club Managements

Farcical that Tullamore can't have a competitive Senior A hurling and football team considering their population and financial windfall every year from the county board for the use of OCP. Mad to think that all other clubs in Offaly pay a levy that then circumnavigates it's way to Tullamore GAA. Ede...

Re: Maughan & O' Malley / Dunne & Maher

Won't be much of an addition.

Might make match day 26, might not.

Re: Club Managements

Didn't think bringing in a manager from Rhode would sit too well in Edenderry?

And even more so when one of their own is going for the job?

Re: Johnny Pilkington

Ya I found that interesting that he never mentioned his brother considering how much they won on the field together. Maybe one has to read between the lines here.

Re: Offaly SHC 2021

If they had to meet anyone other than Kinnitty in the semi final of the Senior B in 2020 they would have won and got promoted.

Re: Offaly SHC 2021

They sure did. They conceded 4-17, 4-29, 7-24, 5-24 and 3-29 in their 5 games and lost their games on average by 24.4 points.

Re: Offaly SHC 2021

Only one team should come up from senior B. Nothing worse than losing a county final and having to play the following year up a grade that your not able for. County champions should be the only one that gets promoted. Agreed. If you are not fit to win Senior B, then you’re not fit to hurl Senior A.

Re: Offaly SHC 2021

I dont aggree with this "relegation semi-final" situation at all..and in particular in the year we are in...all teams get to play their group games, top 2 in semi finals, bottom team goes down, this drawn out thing, and in some counties lads being flown home from abroad (some who havent hurled that...

Offaly SHC 2021

You might think it's a bit strange to start a thread on the 2021 championship when the 2020 version hasn't even been completed yet but it's important that some thinking goes into the structure and schedule of this championship for the coming year. As we are all well aware we are existing in a very f...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

nothing wrong with discussing the lads who have opted out, some here no doubt will want to, fair enough if you dont want to, I know more than the Kielys are huge losses in their own way I know, but they are in particular given they were both more than likely to be on starting teams, and Cillian bei...

Re: Club Managements

On the volunteerism front and by no means are they duty bound, but it's interesting that there is very little football coaching in Tullamore college where both Keith Begley and Richie Dalton are both teachers. Yet both are appointed to Shamrocks and Raheen respectively. Bracknaghboys point is a cru...

Re: Club Managements

What I meant when I agreed in my previous post was that 1. I agree with the assertion that Shinrone are a long way off competing for a county championship 2. I disagree that they have gone backwards - They have clearly stayed the same over the last number of years. Consistent quarter finalists and n...

Re: Club Managements

Trevor Fletcher is over Shinrone an interesting one again, I thought Shinrone were even a little ahead of Belmont at one stage over the last year or two, but they had a bad QF defeat to Birr where all the old failings showed again, be it they shot something like 17/18 wides so that would say they h...

Re: Club Managements

He obviously really got a taste for volunteerism while making the journey from Clare to Wexford for training. I wouldn’t agree with the previous poster’s assessment of his hurling ability but that’s neither here nor there. On the coaching front, he was a staunchly loyal lieutenant of Davy Fitzgerald...
