Re: O’Byrne Cup

Underwhelming performance overall. Longford fully deserved it. They had a lot more spark in second half and were full value for win and were much better than a bang average Westmeath outfit we beat the last day. That said, we had scoring chances in 2nd half we didn't take. Anton took a score in seco...

Re: O’Byrne Cup

Great performance and win yesterday. While you must put in perspective, it was convincing win over a Westmeath team that would look down on Offaly - albeit a slightly weakened Westmeath due to injuries. From observation, I thought Westmeath were woefully negative at times and Offaly were comfortably...

Re: O’Byrne Cup

Wexford absolutely woeful. Ferbane or Rhode would have beat them! Galvin brought his fashionista self onto the sideline, complete with new Dunnes range in skinny jeans, bomber jacket and suede boots! He could have at least thrown on a tracksuit for the hour on the sideline! Offaly played at high tem...

Re: The fixtures crisis - how would you sort it ?

Good question.... Have some ideas, some of which I will touch on. I think the new tiered system in football might alleviate some of the congestion and free up 2 or maybe 3 extra weeks. That said, I wont get into merits / non merits of org of county game and will try stay focused on club. There is an...

Re: Kehoe Cup 2019/2020

Agree re Sean Coughlan - a strong hard hurler that should be there last 5 or 6 years. Is Sean Gardiner playing at all or is he in there. Definitely one of the best in the county if fit, in his prime and should be in there. Ditto Chris McDonnell and Paddy Murphy who are also in their prime - havent s...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

Glad there is change coming - though lot of work involved and lot of hands will be needed on deck! I am not so sure if the new group will be aware of level of work involved so best of luck with all. Thanks to those outgoing who gave numerous volumes of hours all in a voluntary capacity for little or...

Re: O’Byrne Cup

West Offaly won a lot of trophies this year and as far as I am concerned, are under represented by that squad especially given that they have dominated minor and U21 in last few years! Does anyone have a list of current senior football panel for 2020? Are likes of following involved? Leon Fox, Joe M...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

Ah lads. Is this really happening? For the last 15 yrs we have been on here moaning and groaning about co board and what they havent been doing! There have been a myriad of issues. Now a group of people are willing to come in and do something positive and we are knocking them! Fair enough, it isn't ...

Re: Walsh Cup 2019…ish

Probably in the Kehoe cup by virtue of fact we are in 2A. Not sure if we were in lower tier in league and in Christy Ring we would qualify for it. Imagine being too low to compete in Kehoe cup.........

Re: Senior A Hurling 2019

Great comeback. Subs had huge impact. Great for competition too that Rynaghs won and Birr were so close. Birr made huge strides this year while Rynaghs have same crew really that they had a few years ago....... very close and Nobody would have begrudged if Birr won today. Makes for very strong champ...

Re: Senior A Hurling 2019

As much as people have pop at Shinrones inability to get over line in tight championship games, you'd have to say they are very consistent when it comes to the crunch time in knockout championship. Again today, they never really led or were in any control and the same old faults arose again today. T...

Re: Senior A Football 2019

Clara to win easy. Think Ferbane will be rattled by Shamrocks. I fancy Shamrocks to win this one - they are much closer than the odds suggest. I think Gracefield will rattle Tullamore too but Tullamore to edge it for finish. By all accounts Gracefield will have plenty of better players back in and w...

Re: Next Offaly Senior Hurling Manager

By all accounts Michael Fennelly will be at a SHC game today. Where do we expect him to rock up to? Rath for Kinnitty v Coolderry would be my guess as it’s the game with the most riding on it providing Kilcormac / Killoughey justify their heavy favouritism. He was in Clareen on Sunday along with To...
