Re: New Blog

Sterling work AZ :)

Any chance of some comment on the NBA Finals? The Sunday Independent had a very good piece on Dirk Nowitzki at the weekend.

Looking forward to more.

Re: Offaly Team to face Wexford in Leinster Football Championshi

I had promised myself that I'd avoid posting on this topic, as I don't really want to write what I think. Anyway, I seldom agree with Long John, but he's on the money here: I personally think there is alot of lads on the county football panel that like the social scene too much. Theres alot of infla...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Club Championship 2011

Gracefield were full value for their win here. They got off to a great start against a strong wind and I think they led by 0-5 to 0-1 - this was the cushion that was to stand to them later in the game. Clara then dominated a large portion of the game, from about 15 minutes into the first half to aro...

Re: Offaly vs Westmeath NFL 10/04/2011

Well, I'm probably a lot closer to being on the negative side than the positive. The reason for this - the Management Team. I'm usually very quick to look towards the players, but this is not the first time Tom Cribben and Co. have baffled me - remember the performance against Clare in the qualifier...

I could well be wrong, but I think a spritely Brendan Lowry scored both goals that day and gave the Westmeath backs a torrid time.

Re: Interview with Jody Gunning

So, it's Ok to want to play with the "best" team in the parish - given that there was once a parish rule and even though it no longer exists, that's still Ok. But: the bottom line is that Dublin clubs are poaching the best players. They don't go after the mediocre player they are poaching ...

Re: General Election time

You're clearly a hard man to please though LS :o I'd say when the candidates saw your list of questions coming through the door, they decided there was easier ways of getting a vote! If you're: hugely skeptical of how much the likes of Mick Wallce, Shane Ross, Richard Boyd-Barrett, Joan Collins and ...

Re: mcpaddens for clonmore ?

Right now, there are two separate threads on this site, with pretty much the same themes running through them. In one thread, Kevin Corrigan has expressed the "need" for amalgamating (some might consider, re-uniting) splintered Parish groups, which he believes to be the solution to improvi...

Re: Brian Cowen's legacy of failure as Taoiseach

Independence worked for the USA and Australia, it didn't for Zimbabwe or indeed most of sub-saharan Africa. So, it worked where small indigenous populations were brutalized, but not anywhere else? Surely that means that independence worked for the masses of incoming people that staked-out a piece o...

That's why I'd say it's time for a full time Nanny from across the water, if that turns out to be the case. Obviously a closet Sinn Fein man  All jokes aside, isn't this the same Nanny that also knew what was best for Africa, India, etc? And what was that somebody said about absolute power?

Re: Rhode V Kilmacud

They will lose players in the coming years certainly, but right now their most important footballers are in their prime. Of the three mentioned yesterday, Roy Malone only played a bit part, Alan McNamee had an absolute nightmare of a game and while Paschal was good in the first half and remains eff...

Re: Rhode V Kilmacud

Ultimately, Rhode were well beaten today, but will still look back on this game with regret. Aside from the late penalty (which, if it went in, would've rattled most teams, coming at that stage in the game), they'll look back at the turnovers and scores that they gifted Kilmacud. Too many cheap scor...

Hmm. Somebody who's:

a) Good at publishing things
b) Competent with the World Wide Web
c) Experienced at putting together match programmes

There is an obvious candidate around these parts, but I don't know if he has the time

Magpie I know you take the hump when I or anybody criticise Reynolds as hes your fellow clubman I think if you trawl back through my posts, you won't see me defending John Reynolds too much. Also, I'm not the only one defending him here, so the suggestion that I'm blindly defending one of my clubme...
