Re: Byrne v Duignan

I should have done this first - I just checked the official guide there.
Rule 3.11 (f) - Voting to fill the Elective positions specified above shall be by secret ballot and on the basis of the
Proportional Representation system.
That seems pretty clear cut.

Re: Byrne v Duignan

Most clubs on the night will have three votes each if they manage to get three delegates to go and the top table one each. See my earlier post on the break down of the votes. I think it's 141 votes overall. I know some clubs have mandated their delegates to vote in a certain way but on the night it...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

Can i ask a question regarding the Byrne vs Duignan debate. I know each club gets a vote but who actually decides, i assume it is the secretary but do they go back to their club and and decide or how does it go. What i am getting at here is like the All Ireland B as we could call it and the people ...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

I did not personally abuse anyone..just made reference to to a pool of opinions on here who have always backed the county board yourself included. You were at the same political crap when people were calling for Bolands head. If Mr.Byrne and his buddies do get in again I suppose the only bright sid...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

If Mr.Byrne and his buddies do get in again I suppose the only bright side of it is I can say I told you so in 5 years or 10 years time...pack of uneducated monkeys! Sure Offaly is flying it! I can't let this go unchallenged or not picked up - this is a disgraceful comment. There is absolutely no c...

Re: Divisional sides

It would be a good idea. But the season will never end. You want to have a very good fixtures committee and judging by the underage still going in November Offaly don't have that. Just on this, it's utterly impossible to try and get underage run off much sooner. Don't forget that due to exams, you ...

Re: Divisional sides

Make the Leagues smaller, less games, and throw this regional thing in early in season before real championship starts. I don't know if you're being facetious or genuine. If it's not "real championship", Offaly people don't care. The leagues prove this. There's not a notion of players signing up fo...

Re: Divisional sides

A few things people need to note if they want this to turn into a serious discussion. It can be done, but don't forget that Kerry is not a dual culture. (1) First and foremost, it won't surprise anyone to learn that if you are a county footballer, it's accepted that you probably won't play club hurl...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

Duignan raised 800k apparently for the faithful fields. He was also part of getting ocp redeveloped. He has good business connections. I think he is worth a shot for reasons I outlined already in this thread. Lads are always giving out about County board and he is a credible alternative and lads he...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

Lone shark I did not lambast him once in that post I have to give it to you your a great man to put words in other peoples mouth. Your first line was... Okay so I wont give you all the negatives on why Tommy is not the man to take us forward I think anyone with any brains would realise he is not. A...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

Maybe a good local journalist should interview both parties and do an article on them in the paper. I think there is a lot of interest in this particular election. I think Tommy is too conservative and we need new blood. Duignan has already approached clubs with his plans and some of them I have ou...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

Nobody said Offaly hurling is in a good place. It could be argued however, that it is in a better place than it was two or three years ago. That's not an open and shut case, but the debate is there to be had - and a "burn it all down and start again" approach is probably not ideal give nthat the evi...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

Beating a tier one county (Dublin) away from home in a knockout championship game. Measured by the standards of the 1990's, it would be a poor year. Measured by the standards of the 2010's, it's possibly the best single result we had at that grade (including U-21, obviously). It's not exactly enough...

Re: Byrne v Duignan

At this stage of proceedings, my understanding is that Michael Duignan is canvassing clubs privately. That's a perfectly reasonable course of action, entirely in keeping with the democratic process. The problem for those of us on here who don't happen to be club chairmen or secretaries (or at least ...

Re: Leinster Under 20 Hurling Championship

Not to be going off on a tangent here, but who do players from Skenach/Killavilla hurl with (presuming there are any!).

Shinrone I guess?
