Re: Offaly Fitzgibbon and Sigerson

The Outsider wrote:I could be wrong, but did Tim Gilmore from St Rynaghs win it with Nui Galway in 2010 on the the extended panel.
Tim Gilmore was not included in the listing of Fitzgibbon Winners in today's match programme (Offaly V Wexford). I too think that he was on the NUIG winning panel in 2010.

Re: 2015 Walsh cup

Every Team needs Leaders on the Pitch. This leadership is usually given by the players from the Senior Co Club Champions. This year in Offaly the Senior Co Club Champions have been given the honour of leading Offaly as Daniel Currams has been appointed captain. It appears that his club colleagues wi...

Re: Offaly v Waterford

Why did Offaly Players receive Black Cards. Were they deserved. Were they the result of careless behaviour or an over zealous ref.

Re: 2015 Walsh cup

I think there has been an over reaction to Offaly's poor performance last Sunday. It is January and Brian Whelehan is being correct in giving panel members a game. In the 2nd half last Sunday there were 4 players from Seir Kieran players on the pitch. It was clear that none of these players were up ...

Re: U21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

It is clear that the County Board have an agenda this year to get the championships over as soon as possible. So what if Footballers aged 19 & 20 get One Game in January for the year. Some people still wonder why we are losing players in the 19-21 age group. The Under 21 Hurling should be played...

Re: 2015 Walsh cup

I would have expected that the Walsh Cup Game v Galway on Sunday would not have been played in O'Connor Park but played in St Brendan's Park Birr as promised by our Co Board Chairman last autumn as part of the effort to restore the interest of the South Offaly Hurling Supporter in Hurling. O' Connor...

Re: Killeigh and Killurin

It is very hard in Offaly for Club Senior Football Team Managements allow Club Players play hurling as well when the County Board wish to eliminate the "Club Dual Player". The County Board will not allow players who are members of the Offaly Senior Hurling Panel be released from County Hur...

Re: Kilcormac-Killoughey in Leinster - 2014

When a County Board arranges a County Quarter-Final for Nov 23rd, you cannot expect a full playing panel. Surely players are not meant to sit waiting for whenever an inefficient Co Board gets around to fixing the match. The DRA confirmed the unsatisfactory manner in which the Galway Co Board invest...

Re: The issue of letting the game flow

Just to clear any doubts about the incident, the player who got seriously injured did not over carry the ball. The lack of protection given by the referee suggests that the time has now come to introduce and implement the "Black Card" in hurling. Had the "Black Card" being in ope...

Re: The issue of letting the game flow

Not the First Time for this ref to be harsh on one team for steps and allow the other get away with illegal physical contact. Hope the young player who was seriously injured will gain a full recovery and that he will continue to hurl after this unforgivable incident.

Re: National Hurling League 2015

Hopefully management can get the best available players in the county to commit to the team this year. It seems this is going to be a challenge given the number of players who walked last year. Players all wish to play for Offaly and all invited players will join the panel provided that : Physical ...

It would be great if the County Hurling Final could be played in Birr. Reading this weeks Offaly Topic there is Little or No Interest in Tullamore & West Offaly in the Hurling Final.

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014

I heard ex Offaly referee Pat Horan say at the gate he never goes to matches in OCP and only goes to Birr and south Offaly out of principal. That is the bullshite that killing hurling in this county. They was as much atmosphere in Tullamore as there was in Birr over the weekend. People in Birr and ...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State

Sharp Eye, The open night in May was well organised. I can vouch for that as I was involved in it. BOTH managers agreed to bring in players from each panel, but only footballers turned up. The organisers could not do anymore than was done bar physically contacting each player and when managers say ...
