Re: tom coffey new offaly manager

Best of luck to Tom in the role which will no doubt be a difficult task. He is a brave man to take it on. does anybody know who is in with him helping out. For once one would have to commend the county board for going back for Tom Coffey. I would have thought that he would nt have been considered by...

Re: If you are withdrawing from the football manager job rac

Just heard this report on the wireless, its hardly true?? NEWSFLASH NEWSFLASH Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid had a crucial 2 - 1 win last night in the El Classico v Barcelona at the Nou Camp in Spain's top flight football league "La Liga". It leaves them seven points clear of Barcelona with 4...

Re: Gerry Cooney steps down as Offaly Manager

I think that an awful lot has gone on in the past few months and in the end, Cooney's job became unteneble. He was probably right to step away but it is certainly a poor reflection on the players also. while some of them are fairly clued in and know what is expected of a county player, there is a la...

Re: offaly manager

very surprised to hear this, given the timing. shocked in fact. Just wonder if this is actually true or is it just more speculation like before when he was considering his position...However if it is true, I reckon itll be a hard job for anyone to fill and i dont think too many will be putting up th...

Re: Relegated

have to agree with some of your points re fellas coming and going. I think it is a very poor reflection on the character of some of the players as they jump ship when things arent going for them. It just shows the value in which they hold a place on the Offaly senior football squad. I think that whi...

Re: Schools Football

Well done to both schools on reaching this level of competition. It is a fantastic achievement thus far for both schools. A lot of work obviously goes in at underage level in the surrounding clubs and is continued through at schools level. Ferbane have really come strong on the back of a lot of unde...

Re: Offaly v Sligo

have to agree with a lot of what you say DAF. I thought the support running from offaly was very poor today. It seemed that Sligo always created the extra man for the overlap while we were never able to achieve this. this comes simply from a lack of running and support from those not in possession. ...

Re: U21 Football Management

at the game tonight and just back. very disappointing though one couldnt fault their effort. Oy were very slow to get out of the traps and were a long way behind. It might have been the case that the players thought they were better than they were without working for it. While Offaly should have had...

Re: The Great Escape is On

sullivan nearly cost us dear the last day though the lads did very well to pull in a 4 point deficit with 14 men. This is 2 games in a row for him now and this type of petulence is something we can do without. if the ball was there id say something... going forward, i think its sligo next and then t...

Re: Offaly v Antrim N.H.L 18-3-2012

dont think that we are all that far ahead of antrim to be honest. remember 2 years ago when we needed a pont at the death to win it. while teams will be short the club finalists, this is a must win game for Offaly and Antrim alike as both are probably behind Clare and Limerick in the group and are c...

Re: Coolderry's long and winding road to Croke Park

best of luck to coolderry, just need to keep the heads right and not get carried away as i think the bookies are well off the mark. it is really set up well for loughiel but i think if coolderry play to their potential, they should have enough, best of luck to all concerned

i feel sorry for gerry cooney,he was on a hiding to nothing from the start, came in to late and didnt get the commitment of the players.i dont blame gerry for the fiasco,it the county boards fault.now were back where we started and looking for a miracle or maybe this is as good as we are :?: reading...

Re: Offaly v Wexford NFL 11/03/2012

heard the rumblings on the midlands radio yesterday evening. while i dont think it is necessarily the best thing, I just wonder what his reasoning for considering his position is; Is it (a) that he feels that he is out of his depth in the job and has lost the dressing room or (b) that he feels that ...
