Leix vs Offaly report
Offaly vs Leix Report On New Year’s Eve this year, amidst the chaotic alcohol fuelled daze, Lone Shark sent a few text messages at the turn of the calendar relating to Offaly GAA, as you can imagine, there were very few tears in the eye to bemoan the passing of 2004. On Sunday we got the first glanc...

Re:
Look what happens when the poor yokes try to use something other than Galway jerseys that fell of the bus crossing the bridge in Athlone with their name tippexed on. Their fans will probably sue the county board for the emotional distress involved in being the worst looking shower ever seen in a cou...

Portlaoise it is. The Shark will be there, albeit a reduced size version!! Ye should be able to find us, so anyone coming along, let's see ye there, an do tell all and sundry to come and join the shark and put a bit of voice together. The last thing we want is for the players to be able to hear Kilm...

New Rules
I'd be happy with most of them - the injury and sin bin ones in particular. I'm less convinced as to the sideline puck rule, because I think it will encourage lads picking out a pass or dropping a ball into the box, but if the HDC are happy I'd be willing to give it a go. My only concern is that ref...

Selectors.
I'd say the problem with Mike Mac is that he wasn't really dealing with a generation of "hardy" hurlers. I'd be slow to blame him for the team turning up without real fight in them - there's not a single one of that team who I'd say is an aggressive person by nature, and in that situation ...

I'd say it sounds reasonable. We'll have to see who we can get lined up next, but it seems like the way to go.

AZ, I thought getting locals into positions of power was supposed to be a good thing?
On the plus side, he'd probably be glad of any publicity he could get in advance of any foray into politics in the future....

Seeing as we have one for the hurling, may as well include the football as well..... Was in Longwood for the vocational semi on Monday. Despite on paper not having the strength of last year, you'd still have to say that it's a very decent Gallen team. Phelan and Keenaghan may be gone, but Paul Deele...

(I was a bit slow off the mark today, so I'm kind of replying to a lot of points together. Bear with me if it seems confusing!) I don’t see my ideal as a Utopia at all, merely the way most developed nations outside of ourselves operate. We are the only country that I know of where matters of a stric...

Irish Politics
"However, politics is, was, and always will be a parochial issue. Far more TDs get elected on local issues than on National/International issues. " In this country it is. I think we suffer for it. The Irish mentality has always been one of disrespect and resentment towards authority, combi...

Local TD's
Not at all. The job of the county council is to administer the county. The job of the national TD's is to run the country, and govern in the best interests of the whole country. Just because self interested gombeen men make a show of themselves, their constituents and by extension the people of this...

Hurling league matches.
That all seems relatively feasible. I reckon the shark will have a presence in those games.

The shark
The Shark in either or both of the 3D and flag format should make most matches. Offhand I'm not sure where some of the hurling games are, but within reason I'd say we should make most. Incidentally, looking at the schedule for week 2 of the football, of the teams with floodlights, (Cork, Kerry, Dubl...
