Great to win something after the efforts of the lads this year. 2 semi final appearences and now this win coupled with our underage success points to a great year for the club.

I agree with the sentiment of the half back line. Look at any successful team over the last 15 years and they all had exceptional half back lines. The half back line does the midfielder's job now.

I had a quick look at the team earlier and the thing that leaps off the page is that most of these guys are ball carriers. Few top quality forwards to speak of so I reckon the game will be to kill the Irish with their stamina and peel off scores in tight. Nathan Brown has been the star of this team ...

International Rules

From rte.ie: Australian coach Kevin Sheedy has named a speed-laden, new-look squad for the forthcoming International Rules Series with Ireland. A 26-man Aussie panel was named today for a training camp in Busselton in south Western Australia next Saturday, ahead of Friday week's sold-out first Test ...

Donaghue didnt have the best of years but in most of the games he played he marked the opposition team's best player and his attacking game was severly curtailed by that and his position of corner back. Mark him down as an Offaly senior in years to come.

Yeah I agree. Why do so many clubs have only one choice of club strip? Playing for Ballycumber I have lined out in saffron and blue, all blue and white with saffron trim. I can only remember Edenderry playing in an alternate strip.

I suppose you will be watching tomorrow. Up the Swannies indeed. Even though my club colours in Offaly are the same as the West Coast. Hope Tadgh plays well. He is one of the short odds for the Norm Smith medal. I think Kirk or Cousins will take it though.

I think he got 2 early on and he surely would have picked up a few in their loss to West Coast in the 1st prelim final game. Good question. I don't really know. If you are heading to the Telstra dome you should start in town in The Irish Times. Always a good place to start because you never know whe...

Up the Deise indeed. And very welcome you are. I live with a load of rebels and it would have been great if you could have taken them this year. Next year perhaps.

By the way, who is Lafcadio Hearn?

Barry Hall is playing in the grand final on saturday. he pleaded guilty to a striking charge but the charge was downgraded. Seemingly there is a difference between when the ball is in play rather than when it it out of play. The inference is that out of play means a pre-meditated hit or strike on an...

Traditionally the team has been selected from the All Australian team but many of the players opt out of the international series as it coincides with their non contracted time. Players have 2 months off at the end of a season and then it is back into pre season before another 22 games to qualify fo...

AFL grand final - International series

OK sports fans, the business ends of the All Ireland and the AFL have been reached. Last night Ben Cousins won the Brownlow medal (which is a little bit like the player of the year but it also includes how fair they have been sop if they were reported for an offence during the year and charged they ...

End of the road

Well done Shamrocks. The better team and all that. Ah well another year to wait for the Bally lads. Should be some session in the village for the next few days. But we still have the league to keep us heading down to Quinn's field in coroe.
